Flock of birds not returning

Just like the title says, I befriended a flock of birds in Bramblewood, this unlocked the tree. I placed it on my lot but it just says unable to socialize until the flock of birds returns. I have the same issue with the bunny, when I befriend them and place the tree stump no bunny will live there.

I don't use any MODs and the game is updated.
