Foundation disappearing when building walls

Hello!

I recently came across an issue when building houses. After I placed my foundation and want to build walls on top of it, the foundation disappears.

I have tried everything (moveobjects on/off, lowering/highering the foundation,etc), but so far nothing works.

Does anyone know how to fix it?

@efa8ee9465c0a967 Hi! I'm hoping I'm understanding your issue correctly. Please forgive me if I am misunderstanding....
Looking at your screenshot I'm guessing that perhaps you made the area with platforms rather than the wall/room tool(s). For instance, in bb this is a square platform:

...and this is the room tool:
On the left you see if I built an area using a square platform to begin with, then using the wall tool to draw a wall. When I draw the wall, it removes the base of the platform. On the right is when I use the room tool to make a room:

To raise the room (which creates a foundation) you click the a wall of the room to highlight it and a plumbob will appear in the center. If you drag the plumbob up two clicks you should see a foundation appear like this:

You can then add a different foundation type to the room, if you like:
You can also do this with a platform (raise it to make add a foundation to it):
...and you can then add a different foundation to the platform, if you like:

@efa8ee9465c0a967 You're most certainly not an idiot! Some of the nuances of dealing with foundations are confusing. I use them only in very specific situations. To get all of the normal behaviors, and to make the actual home itself, use the room and wall tools. I'm so happy that the information was helpful, and have fun building your new home!! 🙌

I have been unable to build on top of platforms, instead of walls placing on the platforms height they are placing on the ground height. Instead of sitting on top of the platform they are inside it.
I have removed all mods entirely, then I tried to clear cache then repaired the game files. Nothing seems to be fixing the issue for me. It won't register the platforms as a new ground height, I have tried placing floor tiles on the platforms, tried placing a short platform building a room on the middle then raising the platform. But it only raised the platform around the room burying the walls inside the platform.
I will attach some photos to show exactly what I mean about the walls on the platforms. Any help would be appreciated! I'm just not sure what is causing the issue.

This is as intended. If you want to build on top, you need to use foundation, not platforms.

I'm unsure exactly what you want to build but I did just find a 2025 series on building in TS4 by Rosannatxt on YT that is excellent. Here is a link to video #7, which deals with stairs, ladders and platforms. I started with the very first video and am learning something from each one. Hopefully, you will find the series helpful as a resource too.
