Frustrating Doctor and Science Careers

I am only trying to get the items by leveling up the careers.  No I do not use, nor want to use cheats.  However, the interactions for these two careers do not make a lick of sense.  For example, while leveling up the doctor path I reached actual doctor status and it had me mopping floors? or getting nothing but swabbing patients?  Currently, I am doing the science path (finally completed doctor) and it is worse. For 3 work days I have been given nothing but interacting with Jason Carenza (co-worker) Asking how his day is, gossiping, etc etc. What the heck is science related?  And now it is starting to ask me to "lie about my career to tourists".  What tourists?  several work days this occurs and there are no non-workers anywhere.  It says outside but free camera mode everywhere looking for even 1 and there were none, yet I was supposed to do this 10 times???  PLEASE for the love that all that is holy tell me WHAT on earth any of these things have to do with being a scientist?  I am level 8 but I haven't been able to get to excellent because of the insanity of having conversations with people who sometimes aren't even there! LOL It is ludicrous.
