Get to Work Help

Im embarrassed, but I can't seem to figure out how to make Get to Work play in my game. It says its downloaded, i've had it for sometime, but gives me no options to play it at all.. HELP!

Join one of the careers that allow you to go to work with your sim (Police, scientist, doctor)

Game still not loading
managed to load into manage worlds and clicked on my household, was taken to the loading screen and straight back to manage worlds. not sure what's going on still after this 2nd update.

can't adopt pets
Bought the sims 4 pets and it says it is downloaded, but I can't create any pets, and I can't adopt any pets either. I have uninstalled the game and addons and reinstalled everything and it still won...
