Glitch with detective clues, makes arresting the right suspect impossible

So I'm playing the detective career in GTW and my Sim started gathering clues together to call an APB and go arrest the suspect. Her clues were that the suspect was both a teen and possessed the Ambit...

I have a dumb question. If you quit your job and do it all over again do you lose your progress on your previous cases? I just ran into this bug and I don't really want to start my cases over from scratch.
