Goaled events not working

I'm losing my mind over this. I can't check or uncheck the activity events; they no longer work. I've tried everything: deleting mods, clearing the cache, repairing the game, repairing the EA app, uninstalling The Sims, uninstalling the EA app, and repairing the app. I'm trying to plan an event, and they don't respond to the orders; they won't get married, etc.

Can someone help? I initially thought it was due to some broken mods, but it doesn't work even when I don't use mods.

  • HI @AngyFilo

    Try the following

    • Close the game
    • Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
    • Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry
    • Start a new save game
    • Check if you still have the error
    • Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.
  • This is the most recent post I could find on issues with Goaled Events.

I've read this is not a bug. Although, I don't fully understand how it isn't one. I hadn't the option to tick on goaled event.

I'd planned birthday parties for various child sims in my played household which had gone quite well UNTIL.. I'd started joining my teen(s) to high school. Evidently, high school attendance is considered a goaled event if you go along with them??

So after which, I couldn't plan birthday parties for each of my household's remaining child sims as these fell on weekdays because, 'you cannot have more than one goaled event in a sim day'. I don't recall the exact message but that's essentially what it'd read when hovering over the unavailable option to mark it as one. So I had no option to tick on a goaled birthday party event following the game's apparent 'join to high school' event. I hadn't realised.

To clarify..if you want to throw a bash for your child's (or toddler's) birthday, you can't do this if you choose to follow a household teen to high school? Is this similarly so if you choose to follow an employed adult in one of the GTW careers? Is this accurate? This is what I'd experienced in game... but this isn't a bug? Is EA/The Sims 4 team sure about that?

I apologise for the delay. Thanks for your response.

I have five children in total on this particular save (haha! don't ask). I did have mods installed as usual during the first three children's parties. As stated, the first two had gone marvellously with mods installed. However, only the first child had begun attending high school. The second child's party had taken place on a weekend, so there was no school attendance.

The third child's party showed no goals. That's where the problem had begun. So of course, yes, I'd returned to a previous save to retest it without mods installed. I should've been clear. I always try this if my game presents with any issue (also sure to bin cache).

I'd also tried the fourth child's party without mods installed. The same problem had occurred. That's when I'd exited without saving and tried to replan the event. I'd noticed the game did not allow two events in the same day. These were taking place on weekdays when teens had been attending high school, so I can only presume the game considers high school a goaled event.

Use the phone to plan the birthday party and you should be able to have goals. Keep in mind that the party will start immediately once the phone call is finished. (Tested by having a Wedding Party on the same day as the Prom.)
