Yes, that's how it works. It's not exactly as Sims 2 was.

There's no way to make it nessecarily "stop" EXACTLY, but what you CAN do is do "save as" the next time you play and create 2 different save files at the same point of time. Name one of them as yours and one of them as your husband's. Just... make sure you both play the right one, and save to the right one too xD (Although that's pretty easy)
