household of entirely pets?

Before I open a bug report (because I AM playing with mods and this would be difficult and time-consuming to reproduce)... I did see this on SimsCommunity.info...

I had a household that consisted entirely of dogs.

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/735942485385412660/964007751808319538/unknown.png

The TL;DR on this is that Dominic and Moira Fyres died, and Siobhan Fyres died, and then Morgan moved and took the children and toddlers her late mother adopted to Evergreen Harbor and abandoned the dogs at the old house. Maybe the apartment didn't allow pets? Maybe she thought they'd be unhappy in an apartment? Maybe she was so distraught that she forgot. I mean, ordinarily I would judge someone harshly for abandoning their pets, but that's a lot of tragedy and responsibility for a single teen to handle...

And yet I didn't find a bug report that I could me, too. Am I and bluevanillatea the only people seeing this? Or am I just nosier than the average person? (I like to mouse over houses when changing households, and if I'm curious about a neighborhood story I might go into manage households -> other households and look for them.) All that said, I spotted this household while looking for a new house to move a newlywed Sim couple into...

(I merged the doggos with another household so they wouldn't get lonely.)

  • So, I tested it with a fresh folder and gave almost every household pets. I toggle it all off except moving out and dying. I played with Vlad and let him hibernate for almost 5 weeks.

Almost nothing happens for a long time then one family from San Myshuno moved out and this with pets. NS don’t allow it that a household split, so this is only a feature from MCCC.

After a while I had my first dead and all pets vanished with the owner. So, after my test I can say that single Toddler/Kids/Pet households should not occur in a vanilla game, at lest from my short testing experience.

Off Topic; I love my vanilla game, and really hope still that we get a big bugfix patch, I would immediately go back to my vanilla game. If I mod a game I have the tendence to mod it for the fun for modding, not for playing. I think this is a feature you got if you begin to mod Bethesda games. You mod it to perfection and after 30 minutes in game you are finish with the game! It’s the same with sims4, there is always a mod I still need to try it.. luckily CC don’t have the same effect on me, this would be my death.

Sorry I don’t know an answer to this because the only scenes if something like this occurs the user had MCCC active, and the game was not allowed to cull sims. I find it hilarious is the same as the Landgraab cat which living alone in their mansion (I read it on reddit)

I don’t play with NS in vanilla and in my modded game because 75% are handcrafted sims with backstory which I created. I get really attached to this sim, sadly EA sims don’t have this effect and goes always straight in the bin if I have a replacement for these sims. Back to topic, I never read from a console/vanilla player from living alone pets/kids, only form user which used MCCC.

@daikoyu  That's as good an explanation as any!

I did ask MCCC support and they thought it was NS, because they've been doing story progression for years and there weren't households with pets living in mansions without humans before NS. 😉 And if I open a bug report, they'll (rightly) ask me to reproduce it without mods and UGH I would probably have to play for a Sim year or longer for it to happen! UGH. No offense but I have a couple of other saves I'm playing and one of them relies heavily on whims and... no offense Sims Team but you abandoned whims and they're just not very good unmodded... so I'd probably need a totally new save. And I don't like to play families without the Roommate Behaviors/Valid Ages mod because I had more than one child develop a romance bar with their parents and ew. :P

So honestly I was hoping for vanilla players to say "OMG ME TOOOOOO!!" so I could feel justified in picking a side to blame. 😉

(Seriously, y'all, if I see that "Buy a bee box" whim one. More. Time. I'm going on a pixelated murder spree!)

And yeah, I've been playing in my personal starter save with all my "greatest hits" favorite Sims past, so I've gone in and manually turned off NS for those particular families, or just "you can have babies and adopt pets but no moving or dying!" Also all my custom holidays and lots. The Newcrest strip is something else! with PeteyPlaysIt's space museum next door to a restaurant I built in another save for a Sim who is a teen in this save 😉 (greatest hits, yo) next door to the bowling alley....

Right now I have MCCC only doing marriages and only for adult and over unplayed families and the rest is NS. I'm giving NS the fairest of fair chances (despite the occasional "should I blame NS?")! :D

Yeah, the vanilla whims are awful. I never used in my game just because I make the story and not the other way, but I know many simmers loved the whims in sims 2/3. I never understand why they abound whims in sims4 complete, for me was enough that I could turn it off.

I wouldn’t say this is a MCCC issue, its just many simmers use MCCC, and not only for story progress. Some use MCCC just to stop the culling, and I can completely understand this, because this stop broken family-tree completely in a legacy save, we all know sims4 doesn’t like this playstyle.

Btw; I can completely understand you don’t have a wish to play vanilla. I am in the same boot, normally I play more vanilla but ... we all know how the bug fixing publicity is at the moment. It’s the same road as it was with sims3. So, for now I play rather my heavy modded game WITHOUT bugs as to wait for a bugfix patch. I mean just look on the rocket problem, is now almost a year and is STILL not fixed. The pancake has a test phase from a mod which get rid completely of the fps drops in build mode, a problem which was reported since a long time. The chef problem, which bienchen or carls mod fixed completely.

I know bugfixing official is total *political* and need to test more instance but this doesn’t work if you don’t have really a QA-Team! MWS had never should be released in this state, I think many simmers lost hope after this pack because there was not enough testing or the person in charge just completely ignored the state. I wish I could believe in sims4-team but for now, after all this, no, I just can’t it anymore. Ever patch I hope for a big bugfixing, which the targeting are older packs, and always its only a tiny fix or for the new DLC which never should release in this state. (Sorry I am just so frustrated with this state)

Yeah, without whim-fixing mods I just leave whims on and never look at them and occasionally complete one by accident because... yeah. And I've gotten to the point where the darned bee box whim just makes me irrationally angry.  😉

I usually do (often self-made) challenges, or other self-directed things, but I feel like I'm in a "perfectionist" rut and am trying to shake myself out of it. Maybe it's okay if my Sim's kids don't get every single bonus listed in Carl's "making a super Sim" guide, especially if I'm going to continue to play their parents and move them out (and then feel guilty lol). It just makes all my Sim kids feel identical. So I'm using the Legacy trait generator and trying to follow whims, although they're also doing aspirations because after doing Super Sim I can't not do aspirations. 😉 I might even <whisper>let people die</whisper> in my current experiment. 😉 (I'm one of those long lifespan/aging off people.)

I was super pro-vanilla for a very long time because I was like 'every patch I'll have to update all my mods? ugh no thank you!" But the bugfix mods made me a believer. I started with MCCC to remove an unwanted romance bar between a woman and her father-in-law where if she kissed her husband in front of her husband's father she'd get an "embarrassed - caught cheating!" moodlet and NO THANK YOU. I still don't know how that happened; it was a rotational save. Maybe there was autonomous flirting when I wasn't looking? I've had that happen in other saves. I fixed that and took MCCC back out after because I was a vanilla player. But over time I ended up putting in MCCC and UI Cheats and that was it for a while, along with "cats can find things on other floors" and "roommate behaviors checking valid ages," and... yeah. I have like half of LittleMsSam's and Bienchen's offerings at this point.  😉 And Simvasion's rocket and vampires fixes. And Carl's restaurant fix, which is a thing of beauty and a joy forever. The "biggest" ones are Wonderful Whims and Meaningful Stories.

I really love the game, but yeah, I really rely on modders doing bugfixes and tweaks.

    You’re super awesome, thank you!

(This is the same save with the pet pregnancies so I should have known, lol.)
