Foundation Over Lowered Terrain Disappears

So I am on PC, and I am trying to build a castle with several decorative moats. I do not have mods, nor have I ever used them. I recently cleaned my computer (cookies, cache, etc). I even went in and deleted cache and the others in the Sims 4 folders itself (Sims was running heavy and I could not figure out why, so I did a cleanse). This issue began about a week ago.

So far, I have not added water. I have the terrain built and the general outlines of buildings created. I have walkways created. The terrain is lowered to 1 basement level down, with two floors below (but not under the moat areas)

However, when I go to fence in the walkways, closing the fence creates a floor. Upon deleting the floor, the foundations vanish.

I have tried rebuilding sections at a time to no avail. I cannot get the foundation to reappear. I have even scrapped the project and started over. This is my third attempt to create this.

Any help out there?

  • I had it level with the terrain. I eventually discovered that I had to raise the platform by 1. It was an issue with stilt foundation. I'm not sure -why- I needed to raise the level up by one, but it worked. But I am definitely MagpieMorrigan. Now if I could just get the friezes to stay or snap into the correct spots or stop disappearing every time I place a furniture item... but at least the platforms and foundations work. It's down to just the interior now. Thank you for the assist.

  • MagpieMorrigan  Part, probably all, of the problem you've run into is that the inside face of a raised foundation does not have a texture.  It's still there but invisible.  The only way I know of to deal with it is to lower the building so it's flat (even with the terrain).  One thing you can try is delete the walkways (along with their foundations) and replace those sections with platforms.  Platforms and foundations share the same textures so you can have them match.
Tbh, what you're trying to do is pretty complicated as I see sunken terrain, exposed inner foundation walls, water, fences and basement levels.  It's not an easy or simple build.  I wish you well with it.  And if you continue to run into problems with it, I am willing to take a look at the lot to troubleshoot if you like.  All you need to do is upload the lot to the Gallery and reply here with the lot name and your userid if different that the one you use here (MagpieMorrigan).

    Hope this helps.
