Since the August 19th update households are disappearing from my save, I’ve had a maybe 2 households be culled in the past but since this update at least 5 households have completely disappeared. some households were one person some were full. I use no mods or CC. the neighborhood stories are set to no accidental deaths and no moving so I know they aren’t moving out or dying off. I have aging on but most of the disappearing sims are young adults.
the game has a culling mechanism. Are those households that you have in My households or other households ?
Do you have a lot of Sims in your game ?
They are in other households. It is a large save with quite a few sims, it’s a legacy save on the 7th generation. I’ve just never had so many culled in such a short period of time.
I don’t typically have a lot of bugs in game besides a few little things here and there but since the update, families are disappearing, almost all pictures have gone black, and neighborhood stories have stopped almost completely. I have neighborhood stories set so my sims don’t die in accidents but randomly generated townies can but they don’t anymore I get maybe one neighborhood story a day and it’s always just a friendship change story.

As for NHS, possibly that they slow down over time. Can't say.
Since they are in other households, it does sounds like the culling mechanisms taking place. The more Sims you have, the more are removed if you have too many. I believe the current culling limit is still at 800 Sims. Maybe get rid of some you really don't need and make sure you make the ones you really don't want to loose safe from culling by adding them to my households.
I don’t believe I have over 800 sims as I keep a list of all the sims I’ve had in a family tree I made and currently it is only at 733, a lot of which have already died due to old age. But I will keep an eye on the sim amount and appreciate the help.
There are hidden Sims that you don't see in the household manager.
Do you keep the ones who died around the game or send them to the netherworld ?
I let their spirits fade eventually besides main heirs and their partners but that could definitely contribute to the numbers. I think i currently have at least 25 free roaming ghosts but I can release them to the netherworld if it will help with culling current sims. I believe I have around 700 in game right now including my households and other households but I wasn’t thinking about ghosts.
try if getting rids of the ghosts helps.
I have gotten rid of all of my ghosts as well as deleting many randomly generated townies. as of right now I haven’t noticed anymore disappearing households, I am however still not getting any neighborhood stories i usually rely on them to let couples I put together have children but i haven’t received any neighborhood stories in many sim days which never used to happen.
I'm not exactly sure how neighborhood stories work in full games, maybe they do get less. Not sure though. Maybe someone else knows.
