How do I get rid of fleas?

How do I get rid of my dog’s fleas? My stray that I adopted has fleas. I’ve given him a bath, fed him a Wellness treat, took him to the vet 3x, took him in the ocean, even debugged him twice. Nothing is working and I can’t find any discussions or help on the board that’s any newer than 2017!

@Chiapet234 This is the link to the lot on EA's Community Gallery in the browser. You will have to sign in to your EA account there to view the gallery, I believe. If you download there it should show up in your game library next time you re-start your game. https://www.ea.com/games/the-sims/the-sims-4/pc/gallery/10D529600BDD11E98F8877C0F1EC7B3C

So you ran the whole game repair and removed the mods folder and cache file? I'm so sorry for all of this frustration. I would also be so frustrated. Current options include...

    • Did you try rolling back to a previous save?

If you do that you can re-do the whole repair/remove mods/delete cache thing again if the problem is there or re-appears, but since you are having so much trouble with the pets this may be a good idea.
    • Place them into a new game save: You can try uploading the household into your game library and begin a new save game and place them into that game. You can get the dog treated at the vet in that save then re-upload the household to the library and place them back into the old game save, if you are really committed to them being in that save and see if they play right then. Alternately you can just continue to play them in the new game save. (See article referenced above to learn more about this.)

  • @Chiapet234 As far as I know you have tried all of the options that should work to fix this. Do you mean the fleas come back or that they are not cured at all - not even for a short time? I would recommend a game repair along with removing the cache (as follows) and see if this helps. Do you have Mods or CC? If you do please remove them in this process and try the troubleshooting as described below. If you don't have Mods or CC, just skip the part about removing the Mods folder. If you ever had Mods or CC in the past then do the steps as if you have them (removing the Mods folder), as there could be damage that has remained after you removed them.

    • Exit your game then exit Origin. Copy the Mods folder from your 'The Sims 4' folder onto your desktop (for future reference) then delete the mods folder and the localthumbnailcache.package file in your 'The Sims 4' folder and restart the game and so that the game will re-create the folder.
    • Then run a game repair [ Open Origin, click 'Game Library' then right-click Sims 4 > Repair Game ]. Make sure to let it run until it has completed all repairs (it will do the basegame first, then run through each of your expansions/packs). After that, please see if the issue has stopped.

If It fixes the situation I would recommend that you check with the Mod and CC creators to see if there are any known issues with their Mod/CC clashing with the recent update and if so do they have an updated Mod/CC that will address the changes in the game's code from the update. You can then re-add your updated Mods/CC one at a time to see if one was conflicting with the function/causing the glitch - but do not re-add the old config file from the old mods folder, as it is possible for it to have become corrupted also.

Ok, I will try all of this and let you know. As far as your question, the baths I give the dog never rids him of the fleas...he still has a green mist coming from his body and the black fleas are jumping all over his back and something that looks like green moss is hanging out both sides of his mouth. I took him to the vet and all the other animals waiting to be seen had the same aroma and fleas coming from them as well. My original Origin page has not loaded in over a week so I've been going through the Sims regular icon just to play. I've cleared the cache and it still won't load at all.

@Chiapet234 Did he go to see the vet to be cured? Can you also try taking him again to the vet? The vet is not part of the household, correct? (I learned after trying a bunch to cure on of my household's own dogs that a sim vet cannot cure their own dog.) If the repair (as mentioned0 does not fix the issue I have a vet clinic in the gallery under my ID. You can download it and place in the game and try to take them to it? The game will populate it with staff, and perhaps if the staff in your hospital are bugged or something this will work instead? Run the game repair and all first, though, jut to be sure that's not it - or part of the issue.

Btw... if is not necessarily 'just' fleas with all of those symptoms. https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/expansionpacks/pets/sick-symptoms-cures.php

    • Repugnitis (Stinky Fur, Fleas, Mouth Moths, Uncontrollable Drooling)
    • Super Repugnitis (Barfing, Fleas, Mouth Moths, Stinky Fur, Uncontrollable Drooling (yikes!))

The 'super' version is hard to treat, the regular is medium. The dog needs the vet treatment to be cured, plus make sure you get the expensive treatment choice with how stubborn this has been.

  • @SheriGR I tried all that you have posted here and nothing works. I even uninstalled Origin and re-installed it again. It loads the Origin game screen but it won't let me see the Library (in the game) where your vet clinc download is because the dialog box pops up and tells me I'm not online...I am online...I'm looking right at full bar connection at the moment it happens. For some reason Origin does not recognize that I am online. I have screen shots of what all the animals are doing in my game but I don't see anywhere on this chat to upload them so you can see for yourself. All of the dogs have this green odor emitting off them and the fleas jumping and stuff hanging out of their mouth...I think I mentioned this before that its not just my animal. Ever since this patch happened my entire game is acting up...and no I have no mods...my screen is freezing, my sims wants pop up on the screen around the object I'm trying to get my sim to interact with and the choices freeze and I can't click on any of them to get it going again...And no, I'm not treating my own animal...I have went to every veterinarian in all the cities that have them and not one gives me any options to treat the dog except for Spaying and Checkup...so frustrating...
