How do I get rid of the Nanny who wouldn't leave?

I have a couple that wanted to volunteer for a charity event but they had an infant so I could have chose to send the infant to daycare or hire a nanny.  But the nanny came and then the charity event...

You can fire them through the phone. If the nanny still doesn’t leave, try going to manage world and back and see if that helps.
Or have your sim travel to another world with the nanny and then have your sim return home.

Oh that's a good one.  I suppose there are lots of ways to kill the nanny too but I am not normally that kind of player.  I just want him to leave.  He is currently sleeping on the floating lounger in the pool and getting paid by the hour.
