Deleting the floor didn't do anything but I built floors on top of the tree skirts and that deleted them. Thanks! (I ended up not putting the floor back because I liked the sunken room look. 🙂 )
The problem is I can't even use the sledgehammer to delete the tree skirts. I can't interact with them in any way. The sims recognize they are there because they can't use items that are blocked by the skirts.

Please try removing other items in the room to your inventory temporarily, then use the sledgehammer on the floor. See if this deletes &/or frees up the items for deleting with the sledgehammer. If any of the tree skirts or the tree went to the household inventory, I think it would be safest to just delete them, though they would likely be reset when re-adding to the lot. I would then rebuild the floor, then re-add your items to the room and a new tree. Make sure that none of the items near the tree and also the tree are either alt-placed or placed with MOO.
