How to stop sleeping when no longer tired?

Hi there!

My computer crashed about a year and a half ago, so I haven't played the Sims in a long time... please excuse my newbie ness. We recently got a new PC, and I redownloaded the Sims. It feels very different for some reason.

I used to have my Sims "wake up" when they were no longer tired (like, the energy bar filled up and they would get up). Now...... they don't? Did I just imagine that?

Also, my Sims will take showers for hours and not get clean?? I assume that's a well known bug?

  • @LexitasticYou should be able to cancel the sleep interaction by hovering your cursor over the bed/sleep icon in the lower left corner and then clicking on it. This should cancel their sleep whether they are rested or not.

My Sim will automatically wake up as soon as she is rested unless it is a work day. On her work days it seems like the game has a built-in alarm clock as she will try to stay asleep until it's time to get ready for work even if she is already well-rested. I think this is how it works for all Sims on work or school days. On those days I will just cancel her sleep interaction as I described above.

And yes, the shower portion of the shower/tub combos are currently bugged. For now you should go with regular shower stalls or take baths.

Btw- Welcome back to the Sims!

  • My sims also don't get up by themselves when they're fully rested, unless I already have another action for them lined up, which I usually do.
If I don't have them do  anything else, I usually just cancel the action by clicking on the activity (sleeping) in the bottom left corner, like described above.

I had the same issue with my bath/shower combo. They would get clean if they took a bath but not from showering. Maybe try to see if taking a bath will get them clean and if not, I would get a new shower or bath.

@anneke33, just like @RandomBuzziness  stated above, the shower/bathtub combos are bugged right now.  You can only get clean with them if you take a bath, as showering will never get you clean while the bug still lasts.  If you want to shower, you will need to buy a separate shower, as those still are working. 😉

@PugLove888 I know, I saw what @RandomBuzziness said, I just thought I'd share with the OP that I had the same issue, as I was answering the question about sleeping anyway 🙂
I replaced my bath/shower combo a long time ago, not just because of the bug but also because I completely renovated my house 😉 I was playing a rags to riches and my sims could finally afford a decent house and a bigger bathroom so I got rid of it then 🙂 She's loaded now so I'm just about to start building a very big mansion/caste-like something on a big lot 🙂

@anneke33, thanks for clarifying!❤️  Just wanted to make sure that other people coming across this thread understood the bug.  Hopefully they will fix this in the next patch! 🤞

I'm glad you are having fun on your Rags to Riches Challenge! 🥳  Best of luck building her mansion! 🙌

@PugLove888 no problem at all, I should have been clearer in my previous post 🙂
    I hope so too!

Haha, it's fun for sure! Although I've gotten myself in a bit of a pickle by building a full blown castle (including 18 turrets) instead of a mansion 😳
It's going to take ages to make that thing look good on the outside, get a somewhat decent floorplan and furnish the whole thing. Oh well, at least I won't be bored any time soon, haha 😃

@anneke33, yes, that would be helpful, but then again, you may not like how the castle is furnished! 🤨😞😉
