How can I turn it off? I'm not at all interested in the rewards or the challenges. It's sitting in the corner of my screen ruining my gameplay. Will it go away eventually or am I just stuck with it? Even if this one goes away will I be able to remove the next one?! I thought it would maybe be like the discovery quests that you can opt in or out of, which I already have turned off. PLEASE LET ME TURN IT OFF! I'm so confused as to why they made this a in game situation. Everyone plays this game very differently and this is making me want to stop playing. I've checked all the settings and tried multiple saves and there's nothing you can do. I'm more than annoyed by it, I see a lot of people in the sims community are also wanting to remove this. Stop forcing this kind of thing down our throat. I'll be here searching the internet until this problem has been resolved or until someone makes a mod to remove it all together.
You know and I might as well throw in that Vivaland looks better and better everyday......
MotherEarth25 Open Options > Game Options > Other, and disable Online Social Features. Quit the game and delete accountDataDB.package, inside Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. (This file contains data from your interim progress on the tasks but not the rewards you've earned.) When you reload the game, the Reaper icon and everything else that comes with the event should be gone.

Thank you for this. I would be much happier, EA, were you to allow for us to see what the thing is about, (which is the ONLY reason I clicked on the checkmark). Sadly, once I did that I was trapped. A pretty lousy thing to do to those of us who have spent our hard-earned money supporting you through the purchase of these games.

This worked for me, though it did glitch out the Discovery Quests at first. I went in and turned them off in the settings and it took me closing them 2 or 3 more times before it finally registered that I had turned them off.

It worked for me, too. I don't do the quests, so my game seemed unaffected by its removal. Thank you so much puzzlezaddict I'm no longer stressing out while playing my game.

Can you enable it back in if you want to?

VeryStar Yes, reenabling Online Social Features will make the Reaper event show up again.

This totally works to rid one's game of the Reaper icon and everything associated with it. The only downside is that it does remove access to the online gallery which isn't a problem. I'll just check mark it when I need to use the online gallery which isn't that often.
Thank you so much puzzlezaddict

I tried this as suggested and sure it worked for the one thing but now I can't use the gallery....So I can't mark this as a solution.
EA needs to give us the option to opt out of just these quests/rewards/weekly micro transaction bs... :( - chelseaf51110 months agoRising Newcomer

I turned off discovery quests on the game options and also deleted the package file. It’s still there. Anything I can do?
- puzzlezaddict10 months agoHero+
vcoop123 The setting is Online Social Features Access, not Discovery Quests. And you need to delete accountDataDB after disabling the setting.
