How to turn off time-limited events

I want to do the Reaper's Rewards quest in one save but I don't want it popping up in every household in every save. How do I turn it off?

Edit By Crinrict: Adjusted Title to make more general for all events.

  • Sorry if this has been posted already!

Uncheck "Online Social Features Access" in game options under Other, and hit Apply Changes.

    Exit the game.

    Go to My Documents\My Games\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 and delete accountDataDB.package

Open the game again. You should no longer have an event notification at the top left, nor should you be prompted to start the event. If you need to use the Gallery, unfortunately you'll have to turn on Online Social Features Access, do your gallery things, and then repeat this whole process again.

    Happy Simming!

You may not have access to the gallery when you use this cheat; however it is a good cheat to use and know if you want to avoid the events.

I just ignore the events when I have received the free DLC that I want. Most of the free DLC is worth it to me for storytelling in my game.

So, I have to delete files to not have to deal with the events?  EA should provide an 'opt out' option in the interface rather than have users poking around under the hood.  But EA stopped caring about their RGUs.  So when they force one of their events on me, I switch to inZOI - still in development but already much better...and I'm not forced into their EAs FOMO events.

Yes, until they actually start listening or a modder comes up with a mod which banishes it. If I knew how to make mods for The Sims 4 I would do it myself. 😄

I've honestly been staying in offline mode for the last little while if I found that I need to do anymore projects in The Sims 4. However, what I would do before actually starting a new session is getting anything from the gallery beforehand and then save and quit, put the EA App to offline mode, delete that file, and open the game to start doing the project. Yes obviously this isn't very ideal, but it's honestly a last resort (for now). I'm obvously still not fond of EA for not giving players a way to easily turn them off, but doing this method has made me feel less annoyed and stressed when I needed to get projects done in The Sims 4. I feel like these days, I only use The Sims 4 for specific project, but for real fun, I'll stick to The Sims 2 and The Sims 3. PS: I've taken over 100,000 screenshots with the projects I've done in The Sims 4, so was playing it all for nothing? Absolutely not! It was worth doing actually, even though the game has gotten more annoying these days. I have absolutely no regrets. 😁

I do hope they come up with a toggle to disable live events and make the rewards available at a later date after the event is over.

I really enjoy the events but understand it's not everyone's cup of tea.

i agree with everything you said, we should have a option to toggle it off for some people who doesn't like the live events untill it's all over

They should stop making us do the challenges to get the stuff cause it’s long… I have to do it twice on PS5 and mac … and they need to keep the click to decide what you want so you do have to get all the stuff you don’t want

and they need to make nicer stuff, that last event was disappointing content wise .

How do I delete/ remove events, like the forever friends going on now? I don't want to participate and it bothers me popping up everytime

I uninstalled the Sims 4 when they started forcing these events and their invasive UI on us.  I have been checking back every few months since the Reaper Rewards to see if they've given me my old beloved game back, but it looks like still no?  Such a shame, because the new royal expansion looks awesome.

I really wish I could play the newer stuff, but when they say "choice" is one of their values I have to laugh - these events are the most coercive, distracting thing.  They show absolute contempt for the free play and imaginative nature of the sims franchise and force players to all do the same thing (or be pestered to invasively).

If you ever do add a "disable live events" toggle please make a BIG announcement on every social medium about it because I think many have stopped actively checking back and I'm on the verge of doing so myself.
