I Cannot Play My Game

After three long weeks of illness, and to be truthful, I'm not completely over it, but am now at least able to play my game. I had every expectation of picking up where I left off. Sadly, however, I chose to play the Event. I got four reward items, before I learned my Sim couldn't travel anywhere. Apparently, the game is still in the process of loading? Really, truly? This has never happened before, Cloud or no Cloud.

I even did a game folder refresh, because advice on the Internet suggested the Event would be left behind. I was cool with that. I'd much rather be able to play my game, but that's not going to happen. I cannot SAVE the game, you see. Can't travel, can't save can't purchase anything. I'm madder than a Hatter at this moment. I simply refuse to play the same scene over and over again ad nauseum.  No progress can be had at this rate. My teen Sims will forever be trapped on Wednesday of their first Term in uni. Never mind them going out to celebrate at the end of their very first term. (All the nice restaurants are in other worlds.)

I was hoping to take things further and share the next chapter. Apparently, that's not to be. If I can't remove them from the campus because of some infernal game mechanical mishap, what happens after they all graduate?

If anyone knows of a solution to this problem, so that I can go back to playing and making progress, please, oh please share it with me.  I don't know how to disable the Cloud, and since it's saving game photos as memories for me, I would rather not lose that. It's been on all of this time without a problem. I only noticed the problem after I activated the Event.

Please, and thank you, in advance.

  • First, do you have a backup of the save file? What do you mean by the "cloud"? Is Onedrive acting on your sims folder?

The save seems to be corrupted so I would first try using a backup if you have one. Second, Onedrive can be told to not sync your documents folder. I would follow the instructions that are posted in the tech forum to stop it from doing that.

Did you try repairing the game?

Yes, I have learned to always repair the game after an update. Yes, Onedrive is on and has always been so without any kind of problem. I'm rather vexed at this whole turn of affairs. And yes, I do have a backup. In fact, several. After my last saves folder got corrupted, I have taken the advice to do a weekly backup, just to be on the safe side. --- Besides the pre-Patch backup.

Thank you for pointing me toward the tech forum. I shall see if I can follow the instructions adequately to not totally mess up my gaming unit. And I shall pray it does the trick. Thank you so very much!
