I have the base free game in Sims 4 but no seasons option
- there are only clothing options for the seasons

Seasons is an expansion that you need to buy.
@ececimen20 Without Seasons and packs like Snowy Escape they should be fine as there won't be extreme weather. Even once packs with weather are added, it can be turned off in Game Options, so can temperature effects on Sims.
But, if you don't want Seasons and do want more varied seasonal clothing I'd recommend the kits. In particular the Incheon Arrivals kit has some really cool winter clothing included.
