I need help saving my game!!

I've been playing The Sims 4 for like 7 months now, but I still don't know if I'm doing this right! When you save the game your playing, should you make a different save file for each household/family, or should they all be in one save file?

    @mmboba

    If you play rotationally they will all be in the same save. If not they will be in each their own save.

    If you can see all your played families from the world screen then you play rotationally.

    @mmboba, it depends on how you want to play.  @jpkarlsen explained how it works very well! 🙂But there are advantages and disadvantages for playing each way.

    By playing rotationally, all your Sim's relationships will remain intact, even if a member of a household moves out.  You will have a more dynamic gameplay experience.🙌 (But you will miss out on witnessing many of their milestones and you have less control.😢

    By playing with each household in its own Save Game file, you will have more control over your Sims, and you won't miss any major milestones in their lives.🙌 However, if a Sim moves out of the household you will no longer play with them ☹️  (you can start a new save game file from that point by playing the Sim that moved out and choosing to save their game with the "Save As... " option and naming it something different, but then you have 2 separate saves, each focused on different parts of the family.)

    I would try both and see what works best for you! 🙌  One big save file can be difficult to handle if you have a lot of Sims.😞  But you might not want to go as extreme in the opposite direction either (like I do) and have each household a separate save.🤓  What I think most do is to have several different save game files but have several different families in each one that you can rotate between.🙂  But again, play around and see what you like! 🥳

    Update:  I forgot to mention that if you have the Discover University, it is best if you don't play rotationally while your university Sim is at college.😞 Just stick with playing that Sim until they graduate, and then you can continue playing rotationally if you wish! 😉
