Illness cures not working
My Sim is sick and I purchased medicine off the computer but nothing happened after she drank it. No cure, no effect. I bought a second medicine and same thing. I tried drinking green tea and orange ...
@AyaFire, I don't know if this is the same as what is happening in your game, but I've noticed that sometimes it takes 2 or 3 times taking the medicine for a Sim to be fully cured. 🤨 I think it is kind of like having to take multiple doses of medicine in real life. When this happens in my game, my Sim will not have the uncomfortable mood anymore for several hours, but then a while later they will feel the affects of the illness again. I have never seen an illness require more than 3 doses.🙂
However, there is a chance that there is something else going on in your game, so I have a few questions:
1) Have you notice this happening in any other households , both in the same save or in a different save game?🤔
2) Do you play with any Mods or CC? 🤔
@Psychotps, yes I have them nap sometimes, but only if they are on the tired side and they have time for a nap. Most of the time they don't' have time for a nap, so I will have them either drink orange juice or green tea, or take medicine. The medicine is the fastest! :eahigh_file:
I find that any of these 4 methods don't always work the first or even the second time, to it doesn't really matter which one you choose, at least in terms of curing the illness. @AyaFire stated that all 4 methods were tried, including "rest" which would be naps! 😉
@Psychotps, yes the 3rd option is healthy green tea.☕🙂 ( I don't think the other teas do anything for illnesses.)
While you're at it, you can also test medicine.😇 We have a total of 4 ways to combat illness in the game: naps/sleeping, orange juice, green tea, and medicine. 🙂
@hestiah23, I agree! I always thought this was intentional, just like in real life it usually either takes multiple doses , or it takes a combination of things to be fully cured. Rest and fluids are often recommended for combatting many illnesses in real life, even if you are taking medicine! Tea is good for throat and sinus trouble, orange juice is good for combatting colds and keeping hydrated, and rest is good for everything! 😪😃
It wasn't that the medicine needed to be taken multiple times to fully cure the Sim so much as it was that taking the medicine/orange juice/nap had ZERO effect on the Sim's illness status. It was bugged and I ended up deleting that Sim because it happened every time she got sick. Take medicine - no cure buff. Reseting object/Sim didn't work and I'd have to manually delete the sickness buff each time. Tested with mods and without.
@Therathe, if you are using Mods or CC then it isn't enough to turn off your mods or even remove the mods folder to your desktop. You also need to delete the localthumbcache.package file in your Game Folder. It is also good to repair the game in Origin as well. 🤨
Also, since we just got a new patch about an hour ago, you might need to do all of that again if your have other problems in your game,
@AyaFire @PugLove888 I didn't see honey in the list. If memory serves, particularly if it is high quality, I think it is also helpful for certain things, including temperature effects and in this article it says it can help when near-death? The article says it is a "Honey is a warm or cold weather cure-all that gives Sims immunity to temperature for 4 hours, along with a +1 Happy moodlet." I have not tried for this, but it may be worth looking into: https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/expansionpacks/seasons/beekeeping.php
