I'M BORED OF THE CURRENT SIMS! What would you LOVE to see next?

So I'm a long time Sim player (I still miss Chinese takeaway). I'm looking for new ways to play the game because for the first time ever, I'm bored of leveling up careers and starting sims from scratch. Typically I'm content with creating a new sim, building up their career and house at the same time and that's pretty much it. I have all the expansions and stuff packs and I've recently been playing from all of the perspectives I can think of. I even spent a few weeks building a super town and somehow lost it in an update.

I think the staleness comes from the lack of career options. I would LOVE to have a new expansion pack of just careers. Everyday options like teachers, pilots, mechanics, admin assistants, nurses, medical technicians, and college! I miss the option to go to college and begin a career at a slightly higher level (kind of fantasy but it is a game after all).

What would you like to see added? How do you mix things up when you get a little bored of the same thing over and over?

Happy Simming!

M.

  • @ZOALAM Hello! There's a University leak, I'm not sure if it's true but it does look legit. There is no detail released by TS4 team yet, so we are not sure about the gameplay. Many ask for a teacher/professor career.
I hope this pack does have a long-lasting impact on sims life. I wanted to see a more realistic education system. For examples, kids that didn't go to college can't join astronaut/professor career. And each major have a requirement to join, for examples, art major will need certain level of painting, music, etc.

@AndyZhang2896, I like your ideas for University impacting existing careers to the point that certain careers  shouldn't be open to Sims if they don't have college, like doctor or astronaut! It would make those careers both more challenging and more rewarding.

And yes, there was that leak for a University pack.  I think it might be legit, but even if it isn't that doesn't mean that EA doesn't have plans to make a University pack.๐Ÿ˜‰ As the only pack remaining that we have had in both Ts2 and TS3 that we don't have yet, and also as one of the most requested packs , It would shock me if they didn't release a University pack at some point.

@ZOALAM, there are so many things you can do in TS4 if you want to change up your playing style.

You can buy every pack that you don't own

You can try completing every career/job

You can try completing every Aspiration

You can try collecting every collectible item

If you typically play families, try playing Singles or roomies focusing on non-family gameplay.  If you typically play singles who party all the time, try playing with a large family.

If you normally try to make your Sims happy, you can try making them miserable.  If you normally make your Sims miserable, try to make them happy.

Try various Challenges: Legacy Challenges, 100 Baby Challenges, Building Challenges, CAS Challenges, Apocalypse Challenges, Homeless Challenges, etc.

Try recreating every home you ever lived in as exactly as you can.  Then add your family.  You can do this with friend's homes and make Sims of your childhood friends or current ones

Try recreating the homes of TV shows or movies you love.  (With The original Sims I made Gilligan's Island and Little House on the Prairie, with TS2 I made The Golden Girls. With TS3 I once did the cast of Big Brother (split in 2 households since because of how big the cast is each year.)

Try aspects of packs that you've never explored before.  So, if you have never, for example owned a retail store with Get to Work because you were too busy focusing on being a doctor, police detective, or scientist, give retail a try.

Try experimenting with genetics to see what results you get.  And if you have the right packs, you can try out marrying a Vampire to an Alien, and see what happens with their children by at least raising them until they are teens. (warning, they children of two different supernatural Sims can be glitchy, but it is interesting.)๐Ÿคจ

Try other experiments with your gameplay.

Try telling stories with you Sims, as if they were acting out a movie or play.

Try to accomplish all of the Achievements you get in game listed on the Achievements Panel.

These are just some of the things you can do with your game.  :eahigh_file:   There are others and you might discover a few yourself! โค๏ธ Feel free to tell us what you plan on trying next! Happy Simming! ๐Ÿฅณ

  • @PugLove888These are great suggestions. I play a heavily modded PC game and recently got the base game and couple of packs on Xbox. Wow learning the controller and playing 100% vanilla has been interesting. I am also playing aging on with Xbox because I normally play aging off on PC. This type of play also opens up all of the achievements. But the biggest difference is without all of the choices my actual gameplay is more enhanced.

@stbnchristine, interesting! ๐Ÿคจ I never thought of reversing aging on or off (depending on how a person usually plays the game!)! Thanks for mentioning that ! ๐Ÿ˜‡

Mods are a whole different thing, though I can see how using them or not using them would make a big difference! ๐Ÿคญ  I was hesitant to mention them since they can cause problems for players who aren't' used to them or who don't upkeep them! ๐Ÿ˜ž  And many players will just go to Mods without trying the other things that are actually built into the game, which is a shame.โ˜น๏ธ But Mods are an option for those who carefully maintain them. ๐Ÿ˜‰  And it is interesting that you found new life in your game by not using them! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

    The Sims 2 - Revamp.

All features, interactions, objects, from The Sims 2 with up to date graphics. Apparently that's the only way to go in order to make the best version of the franchise. TS3 and TS4 just failed.

@DolphinSSA, you are speaking my language! TS2 was the most fun version of The Sims!๐Ÿฅณ It had very deep gameplay that never got boring , & I played it a lot! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
TS3 was a letdown in comparison.  It had some good features, but nothing to replace the awesome gameplay, that was in TS2. (It would have been a better game if it worked, though!  But when your game grinds to a halt all the time, it is difficult to enjoy. ๐Ÿ˜ž )   I do really love TS4's ability to mulitask, but I just wish the stories, backgrounds of pre-existing Sims , and gameplay were as complex as those of TS2. ๐Ÿค”

But I don't think they can just simply revamp TS2, especially since The Sims creator , Will Wright, who also worked on TS2, is no longer with EA/Maxis.  ๐Ÿ˜ข  But I wouldn't be mad it they remade TS2! ๐Ÿ˜‡

  • @ZOALAM Well, with all the wonderful posts and suggestions already covering so much, I will just add some 'pet' wishes of mine:

    • I want to farm! I love gardening, and would absolutely love to way of farming to enhance it. We could have chickens (they are just silly... and they could have chicks & eggs), horses (to breed and ride), cows (to milk and graze), the ability to have a farmer's market (maybe even a grocery store - or at least the ability to add our herbs and spinach to the Lice Cold Freezers), etc.
    • I would love to be able to have owners live on business lots they own if they want to, so things are not wonky if you try to do so if that is your desire. (Adding an apartment to it - above or in the basement). Currently if you do this it causes some issues sometimes even with workarounds.
    • I would like to be able to travel with babies, have buggies and packs to take them places, and be able to live with or travel with them to restaurants & businesses I own.
    • I would love if toddlers running around or something helped them not get fat, even if they are not overfed. I would also like the same for kids (though they at least have some exercise options - they need more of this). If you feed them decently and don't overfeed they should not be getting fat, yet they do.
    • I would like to not hate my Cow Plant. I wish you could get social interaction for caring for them, and that they would not be so high maintenance that they were really unpleasant and hard to own. I wish they were a bit like a guard dog... able to be trusted if the relationship is moderately okay and things like that. This could actually be fun.
    • I would like to be able to lock my doors and that was sufficient to keep vampires off my lot. It makes sense and is fun to deal with them on some lots, but not in all. I think if you have garlic in a sim's inventory to keep the vampire away and lock doors to them &/or have a lot trait to bar them, this would enhance the pack.
    • I would love for butlers to get some love to their code because they are awesome - but a bit buggy and not working as well as they could.
    • More and better curtains. Ones that are easier to place, not ugly, more simple and versatile, and less expensive.
    • Some love to the furniture, woodwork, and wall covering color & pattern options for matching purposes.
    • I would like a pack(s) that included the ability to own and run a cafe/coffee shop, bar & grocery store with out having to do work-arounds and not use certain aspects that would be nice for our sim towns and gameplay.

I guess that's enough of a wish list for one day. :eahigh_file:

  • I would like to see a construction career. one where you start as a construction site cleaner and work your way up thru framer, builder, painter, finish work ect. the you can branch out to master builder or become a real estate baron type..building home the renting them.
