ah, wait, it worked, but my sim still isn't listed as his mother. I do need for this to be counted for the challenge.

    @dreamystarbi 

    Only way to fix that is a cheat. If on console that means no achievements I'm afraid.

    Open the cheat console (ctrl-shift-c) type "cas.fulleditmode on" without "" then load the family in CAS. You can now change relationship.
