Infinite Loading Screen Residential Rentals
For MerMay, I’ve been spending more time than normal in build mode. I’ve been using a residential rental as place for all my merfolk to live and have encountered something odd. I’m creating this topic to see if anyone else has experienced this.
Basically, Residential Rentals that are occupied by a household are not supposed to be accessible in build mode if you aren’t going into build mode through that household.
The oddity that I encountered is that Rooms saved to the gallery also save which rental unit the room belongs to when you save it.
What ends up happening is that adding the room to the lot while in build mode for a different household on the same lot essentially results in adding a room you can edit that doesn’t belong to a household you are playing.
Leaving the build from their results in an infinite loading screen and changes to the room can’t be saved to the gallery.
The solution I identified was to go into the previous household and change the room to a “Shared” status before going into the gallery.
A simple way to look at this:
Room from Rental A belongs to Rental A when saved to the gallery.
When adding room to Rental B, the Room still belongs to Rental A even though you are editing Rental B.
Under these conditions, Rental A’s Room can be edited when it shouldn’t be possible and it results in an infinite loading screen and the inability to save the changes made to Rental A’s Room while building in Rental B.
Solution: Going into Rental A and Changing Rental A’s Room to a “Shared” room BEFORE saving to the gallery makes the room work in Rental B.
I’m just curious to know if anyone else has encountered anything else that is the same or similar in rental builds.
