Is it worth changing from Xbox to pc for the sims 4?

I have spent and LOT of time and money playing this game on the Xbox and have numerous addons that probably cost over $300 dollars but I never really thought of getting a pc version until I got a pc and I know that I can’t transfer my addons and I would have to buy new ones but I been thinking about it for awhile and I want to know what you guys think.

  • I think the only benefit is: 1. Performance (If you have a good PC, it will be always run better as on console) 2. Mods and CC.

I would only start with basegame and try some mods. If you like it, I would begin to buy packs but only if there on sale or you could try EA Play if you are interest in more games from EA.

EA Play(4.99/ month) you can use sims4 Digital Deluxe for free, if you use PlayPro(14.99/month) you can use Dine Out + Kids room (But I really think EA PlayPro is not worth the money if you only use sims4. It would be only worthy if you get more DLC for 14.99/month) EA Play normal is okey if you just want try sims 4 for a month. The 10% discount which you got from EAPlay don’t stack with sales, so it’s not worth the money. (At least for the steam version)

It all comes down to what you want and if you are willing to buy it again.  But if you watch for the sales and buy the bundles, you can probably spend a lot less to buy the packs you already have again.

The only real advantage of playing on a PC or a Mac that I can think is that you can use mods and CC where you can't do that on the consoles.   So, if that's what you want to do, then getting the game for PC or Mac is the way to go.  As I understand it, you can have more saves too since the consoles are limited to 10 saves where on a computer, the number of saves is pretty much unlimited depending on hard drive space.  Otherwise, it's the same game on both platforms afaik.

I've only played the game on PC so I can't say if the play will be any different from the console version.

    Hope this helps.

Yeah, pretty much what everyone else said.

I’ll add that a lot of modders do bug fixes, so you can get unofficial fixes before console would get them.

The base game is sometimes on sale for $5, so it would be worth picking it up at that price and seeing how you feel about it.

@The_Bug112005 , the only other thing I can add is that some people have said it is easier to build on the PC version, but then again that might vary from person to person. 😉

This is something I've considered too after many problems on console. I upgraded to Xbox series S because it was impossible to get a Series X and still is in my area after all this time but I still encounter a lot of issues. They won't even maximize graphics for my console, they're only doing that for series X which frustrates me. The main plus for me is that I can see it on a huge tv plus I have a chronic pain condition so find sitting at a PC is really painful after a while. I also lost 2 PCs while playing Sims 3 and after many trips to the PC repair shop I was probably given bad advice that it was too big for PC/laptop. It obviously depends on the size and power of the hardware. I was using a top branded laptop at one time which just wasn't up to the task. So I'd thoroughly research the right make and model first before switching. There are plenty of PCs capable of handling the Sims but like I say, bad advice.

I've also stayed with console after much pondering because I can't justify buying my content again. Also I know I'd still encounter bugs and I do get disillusioned when I buy bugged packs the first time, let alone buying them twice.

But these mods/CC of which you speak, well they do sound awesome! So I do get a little envy from time to time and the PC gives a lot more flexibility and versatility.
