is there a fixed day/time sims get bills?

Hi! I read sims should get their bills on a Monday and that it's best to be at the home lot due to a bug, because if you're at another lot (like a big venue) you'll actually be charged for that lot and the bills can become ridiculously high.

My sim was on vacation and just received a crazy high bill on Wednesday 6pm. Is this a normal timing for a bill?? If there's a fixed day and time, I'll make sure not to go anywhere because the bills are otherwise too high.

Thanks in advance

PS. no mods/cc ever used.

  • @IrisuChan my Sims usually get their bills on a Monday morning, before 10am. But if I'm playing them on a different lot it can get a bit random. I have Sims that work overnight fishing or sleeping/working at their retail lots and it affects them. The bill usually arrives in the middle of the night for them but it will be for the correct amount. If I'm at their home lot but they are at work for example, it works as it should.

The problem with bills being higher while on vacation is happening in my game too but that one only happens for me when on vacation, not when just at another lot. Any vacation lot can result in a bigger bill for me even if it's smaller than the home lot or even if they are camping for example.

Here's the bug thread for you:

Ahhh okay. 😞 I understand hehe. I just cheated some money to pay the ridiculously high bill lmao. I'll check if the bills normally arrive on Monday (when at the home lot). I'll check the bug thread out too, thanks so much!

My problem is that I play with several families, depending on my mood. So the other day, I chose to play with this family of four, and they received a bill right away. And then, a day and a half later, they received another bill. Why aren't they billed only once a week?
I think it happens because I hop from one family to the other. Still, it's costly!

@2hCreations You could try switching on a weekend, if you haven't tried that before. If you switch on a Saturday or Sunday the bills should arrive on a Monday morning technically.
  • @IrisuChan Not a solution, but as a related gameplay suggestion: give each of your sims (teen-elder) in the household(s) the *frugal* trait from the aspiration reward shop. It helps cut bills significantly, esp when bills are working correctly. 😉 Just a tip in case anyone wasn't aware! Happy Simming!

@LadyAofPineapple that's a great tip, that Reward Trait is really useful.

@2hCreations I did a test yesterday in my game and found that switching Households on a Sunday morning meant that my bills arrived at the right time on the Monday. If moving in the middle of the week they'll arrive Friday and then again on the following Monday, so it's a double whammy of bills within a few days of each other.

  • I just started playing a family I haven't played in a while, started playing on Monday, and in-game on Thursday 10:30 I received bills.

ps. thanks for the frugal trait tip, will look into that :D

Thanks for the tip! 🙂 I still think it's a bug, though. All households should be billed only once a week (on monday morning)
