Is there a multiples baby glitch right now?

Okay, I'm not really complaining, because multiples are fun, but I'm suddenly getting multiples constantly. I used to get the odd twin (never triplets) and none of my sims have ever had fertility traits.

My current save is a couple who had six children – all of them singles. The first four of those kids are now adults, and these are the children they've all had:

Eldest – one son, then twin girls, then twin girls AGAIN.

Second – one son, then twin girls, then triplet boys.

Third – one son

Fourth – triplet girls.

I've never had triplets before, and suddenly I've had two sets almost in a row? Anyone else finding multiples have become more common?!

  • @infinitegeorgie are you using lots from the Gallery or your own? If it's a lot from the Gallery have you looked at the lot traits to see if it's "on a ley line". Because that lot type would explain it.

  • I haven't noticed one. One of my Sims frequently has several babies per day and most of them are single births. (Serial Romantic and none of the mothers are in his household)

@infinitegeorgieThe lot traits are in the top left hand side of the screen in build mode. The trait "on a ley line" causes multiple births. Some of the new jewellery created with the crystal pack also causes multiple births as well if charged. But that's something you would know because it tells you when charging. So I doubt it's that. There's a reward potion too but again you'd know if it was that as you'd have to purchase it yourself.

We've had multiple births bugs before but I've looked them up and they're marked as fixed.

Can you tell us what platform you are on? Are you on Xbox/PlayStation or on PC with mods?

  • Oh, yeah, none of the lots have traits. And I don't have City Living for the ley lines to even be an option. Nor do I have the crystal pack.

I'm playing on a MacBook, no mods or custom content whatsoever, and just a handful of expansions.

@infinitegeorgie I've asked for opinions as to whether it could be a bug or not and it has happened where some Sim families have had multiple births just like a real life family would too. The advice is that if this affects a few households then we may need to track this as a bug. So keep an eye on it with other unrelated households and see if it keeps happening.
For my Sims families just one little Sim is a handful so I wish your Sims the best of luck with all the nappy changes!
  • @simsplayer818 Thank you for looking into this for me! I did wonder if it was like a "family genetics" thing (which is quite cool!). I'll try some other families though and report back 👍
