Is There A Way to Deactivate the Event?

I know it could be done with one of the Events in the past. But I cannot for the life of me remember what was to be switched off. Also, since this Event, Royalty & Legacies, is entered in a different manner, it may be trickier. Please, I need to know. As it stands, activating this Event is what led to the current troubles I am having. I cannot play my game because my Sims can't travel, I can't enter build mode, which would do no good, as the biggest problem is being unable to SAVE the game! Can't enter the gallery or click on the shopping cart, either. It's a mess and I'm truly frustrated.

If you know the steps to be taken to deactivate the Event, I would be grateful if you would share them.
