is there a way to only keep some of the furniture when moving?

i only want to keep some of the furniture when moving to a new house. does anyone know if there is a way to do it so that i can AND i can also leave some furniture behind on the lot i'm moving from? there are things that my sims upgraded that i want for them to keep but i also want it to be possible for their kids/grand kids to move into the place their parents used to live in when they go to university or smth and for the place to still have some of the same furniture that was there when their parents lived there WITHOUT having to hold onto those items myself. sorry if anything is unclear, english is my second language and not the one i play the sims in so if something doesn't make sense please let me know. i'll be really glad to have an answer on this!
