Is there a way to recover a save version without having the game open?

So within the last couple of days, one of my sims save files seems to be corrupted (?) as it is crashing the game before I can even load into the main menu. I've seen some people talk about recoverin...

    I just tried this in hopes it would work but as I go to launch my game I still have the same problem, after The Sims 4 title screen when the plumbob is spinning to load to the main menu it still crashes before I can get to the main menu.
