I don't know since I'm not Vegetarian, so excuse me if this is wrong, blame it on ignorance. But can't Vegetarian's fish? They don't have to kill and eat the fish, just release them alive. It's more the action of fishing, right?
@Psychotps I appreciate the way you framed your question. The reason why it feels out of place for me to see a Veggie sim autonomously talk about fishing spots...well I've never met a veggie who did that. I can't speak for all veggies/ vegans. For me it's not just about eating meat, it's the pain of animals (including people btw) - or maybe more specifically, avoidable pain. So, since catch and release causes injury to the fish purely for sport, it would not be something I, as a result veggies in my sim world, would talk about.
There are more reasons other veggies may have, but that's mine. I thought it was good to answer this, as I'd really like to see the change happen in my game and I'm hoping that explaining why may help, thanks for asking. If you're interested in more reasons, I encourage going to some veggie and vegan forums and reading more, I don't want this to accidentally turn into some wild, raging ,weird thread or soemthing as oposed to a fix request 🙂
@PugLove888 I know what you mean about when restaurant food is packaged like that. I loses it's zest. I used to watch cooking channels a long time ago, somtimes I'll watch vids online, but I mostly like cookbooks, even though I end up completely changing anything I see as promising 🙂 This may seem weird, but my favorite cookbooks are not veggie or vegan. IMO, most cookbooks in general are not very good. I just convert ideas/ recipes, not a big deal since I can't seem to stay recipe faithful anyway!. My favorite way to cook is the "what's in my house" method. It's fun and I've come up with new recipes that way.
I always get nervous when someone says to me "oh, you have to try [my/ my family] [insert alleged food here]", it's never been good. I've meet way too many folks that think they have some kind of natural cook trait (excuse TS3 reference) and make poor quality meals! I'm hungry, off to make creamy spinach tofu soup now. I don't care what they say. Soup may be simple, but truly great soup is hard to find! You must try my soup, it'd to die for! lol 🙂

You know, while we've been talking about the vegetarian trait here, the same thing does happen with others. By that, I mean, that there are a lot of things that happen in the game that don't seem to match what the trait is for. It's like the traits aren't getting considered at all for a lot of the socials and autonomous actions. And on the other hand, the OCD behavior that some of my sims display, don't match up to any of their traits. So I really wonder at times if they mean anything at all.
- Psychotps6 years agoSeasoned Ace@CGrant56 Yea, a lot of the tuning files seem to be pretty haphazardly written. Not very uniform at all in their options.
Most plants have more harvestables outdoors, some indoors, some are the same either way. Same thing with weeds. Some plants aren't effected by weeds at all. Some aren't effected by seasons, like they were overlooked when seasons came out.
Some foods aren't governed by the "Fresh Chef" trait. None of the Island Living foods are.
Most foods have calories that effect weight, some don't.
I think a lot of the Tuning files in the game need a good evaluation.- crowingwildly6 years agoNew Hotshot
@CGrant56 I'm glad that you mentioned other traits. I mentioned veggie because I had just made a veggie sim after a long break from it and was tired of seeing the problems i mentioned. I completely forgot abou major issues I have with the Loner trait, because I haven't played it in so long because, to me, it's completely broken.
My "loner" sim would run out the door when her social bar was full to talk to a stranger. She had no traits like cheerful or friendly or any other traits or LTW that would make her behave like that. It wasn't always like that, "loner" was broken after an update long ago, don't know which one. I haven't used it since. I don't see any other traits as being broken like this, but I don't have all the packs that many simmers have and haven't played all the traits. I'm wondering if content that adds traits compounded this problem.
I also think that automatic charisma learning causes problems in my game. What I mean is, in 4 your sim learns charisma from the beginning by doing certain socials. Repeating certain socials will eventually give you sim a charisma point. In contrast, in TS3, your sim needed to learn charisma from a book or mirror and get a point in before socials will do anything. It seems like after any of my sims get that first charsima point they keep wanting soical and seem bent on upping charisma, and there's no way to stop it, regardless of trait. I should say makes it worse. The loner sim I mentioned had no charisma.
@Psychotps Yeah, the calorie system. it's weird. I have to get a guide on that again, for the sake of my Adult Female sims. The weight issues in my game for Adult Female sims bothers me more than the weird calorie thing. All of my adult female sims have to exercise like crazy to maintain fat and muscle. It doesn't matter whether or not they have Active trait or have the fat burning thing from the bodybuilder LTW it's all the same. She needs to work out twice as long as the Adult Males to be in the same shape.
I also turned off residnetial lot triats a long time ago. Well, I turn them on when needed and off when I don't. I was tired of non-artistic sims autonomously, compulsively painting and having whims to paint when they shared a house with a painter sim. Turned off the lot trait when my artist sim was done painting stopped the issue.
