Legacy save file corruption?

Just need some help with my current save file, which I have had for years. 

I do have mods installed but I have tried removing them, the 50/50 method, I've checked Scarlet's Realm and none of the mods I have are flagged as broken. I really only have around 10 mods or so and I think only a few are script mods. 

I've tried a reinstall, I've tried a repair, cleared every cache file, I've checked drivers and PC updates, everything. This legacy save will open, but within a minute it just completely freezes. 

I made a brand new save just now and no freezing, nothing. No exception errors from the major mod I have (MC Command Center), it's like my old file is just done. 36 generations in. It sucks to lose it, because I built every single lot from scratch, every townie from scratch, everyone had a back story.

Is there any way to save it?
