Lessons in Sims4

I recently downloaded the SIMS4, Vampires and Realm of Magic game packs but the in-game Help menu doesn't show the Lessons on how to play these packs and I can't find any instructions on what I need to do. The Vampires game I've figure out about 80% of it (I think) but the instructions for the Realm of Magic eludes me.

I've attached a screenshot of the lessons in the Help menu and as you can see, there are no instructions for these packs.

Is there somewhere else I can go to view the lessons (another website or separate download perhaps), anything so I can get the most of these expansion packs.

Please help.

Sadie

  • Do you want to know how to become a spellcaster, or what to do once your sim is a spellcaster? Either way I find following the two Realm of Magic aspirations useful (Spellcraft and Sorcery (Knowledge) and Purveyor of Potions (Nature)), both of which start with going to Magic HQ, becoming a spellcaster and learning a spell or potion (spell for the first one mentioned, potion for the second one mentioned).

There are three branches of magic (practical, untamed and mischief) and each have their own magic sage and they will have a little symbol over their head (to begin with they are Simeon Silversweater (practical magic sage), Morgyn Ember (untamed magic sage) and L. Faba (mischief magic sage).

If you need to become a spellcaster you can ask any of them 'how to use magic' and they will give you instructions on what to do. Once you're a spellcaster you can ask them all for spells in their respective fields and also for potion recipes. There is a cooldown after you learn one, though the cooldown on potions is much shorter than spells. You can also practice magic (in the respective categories) or experiment on the cauldrons.

If you want to edit Magic HQ you'll need to use the bb.enablefreebuild cheat.

Keep in mind if your sim gets overcharged (there's a little ball on the needs tab, if it fills up they are getting overcharged) they can die, though there are perks you can get to help reduce charge and let you discharge the charge.

That's just a basic start, I recommend checking out Carl Sim's Guide. https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/gamepacks/realmofmagic/

If you want to see it in action, I also did a let's play when the pack (rags to riches) came out that had three teens, two twins who were born in game spellcasters and the third who became a spellcaster where I checked out the pack, though it was still somewhat new to me then (most of my sims are spellcasters now though). https://youtu.be/jhQ9s1SN4-w?si=UMjF2R3QVrV8H-qp

    Best regards,

  • This is a great starting point. Thank you for your help Jennifer.

I did go to the pub & met 2 of those characters but didn't realise the pub was Magic HQ or that these characters were the sages so I'll go back, find them again and go from there.

I'll also check out the links as suggested as I like to get a full picture of the packs objectives & features before I start a new game.

    Thanks again

You're welcome! The pub is a good launching point to get to Magic HQ. Magic HQ itself is accessed through a portal in Glimmerbrook. The magic sages do hang out at the pub, but you need to go to Magic HQ to actually ask them about magic.

    Good luck and have fun!

Follow the river downstream to find the portal that leads to the Magic Realm. You can do that from the pub (Elixirs and Brews) or any other lot in Glimmerbrook.
