Library items corrupted

Hello broken game veterans,

I noticed yesterday that several households in my library are corrupted. It's the first time that happens to me. I don't know why it happened, but perhaps it's just because I had outdated mods. I don't know. My mods were updated when I noticed I had corrupted households in my library. Most of these corrupted items don't use any CC.

I backed up my Tray file a few months ago. So, I'm wondering if I could just move my back up library into my game's tray file to repair my corrupted items. Any advice would be appreciated.

Happy autumnal festivities to you all!

  • Wyrmelin  Do these new corrupted households have any similarities/commonalities like were they saved around the same time?  Did all of the corrupted households come from the same save?  Is there a common CC item on all of the affected sims?  Have you moved sims in or out of the affected households?  If the affected households live on a lot, does their home lot show any sign of corruption?  Is it just sims, or are lots affected too?

I notice that all of the corrupted households appear to be Gallery sims.  How long have you had them (are they new/old)?  Did this issue start recently soon after downloading one or more households from the Gallery?

But, for it to continue happening, I suspect that you have something bigger going on.  I suggest you check your save over carefully by visiting at least one lot in every zone in live mode to look for signs of corruption.  Running a repair may be helpful.  Have you had any saving issues?

    Hope this helps.

I'm noticing corrupted households in my library again. It's a bit different this time. It looks like only some Sims of these households are broken, and all of them are some sort of occults (ghosts or vampires).

  • Wyrmelin You might be able to get away with doing that by deleting the old tray folder and replacing it with the backup.  Don't just combine them by dropping the old tray folder on The Sims 4 folder.   Doing that might leave corrupted files.  If you want to save any of the households in the corrupted save folder, check them first by starting a new game and drop them in. The game will usually tell you that a household or build is corrupted when you try to install it.

The thing is though; how did those items get corrupted?  There is a good chance that they corrupted at the time they were saved to your Library.  If that is the case, then the real issue may be that you save is corrupted.  You can play a corrupted save for a while but sooner or later, it will fail completely and you lose everything.  So, my suggestion for you is to save what households and builds you can and start over with a new save.

    Hope this helps.
