@xmbryox Please do try the following, since you had mods in the past and let us know if the problem returns:

    Spoiler

    Please try the following:

    • Exit your game then exit Origin. Delete the mods folder and the localthumbnailcache.package file in your 'The Sims 4' folder plus any folder with word cache in the name in that folder and then restart the game and so that the game will re-create the folder. (It is possible for the config file from the old Mods folder to have become corrupted also, so this will force the game to create a new, fresh Mods folder and its config file when the game restarts).
    • Then run a game repair [ Open Origin, click 'Game Library' then right-click Sims 4 > Repair Game ]. Make sure to let it run until it has completed all repairs (it will do the base-game first, then run through each of your expansions/packs).

If you are concerned that your computer shows signs of 'overheating' and stress when running the game, there are ways that you can help reduce this. Some of these may include:

    • Make sure your computer and game are updated.
    • Is your graphics card sufficient for the game? How does your computer compare to the game requirements on this page?: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/the-sims/the-sims-4/the-sims-4-system-requirements/
    • Move the vast majority of your docs, video, images, etc., to an external drive on your computer. This will free up a lot of space for the game to run, plus will protect your files if the computer crashes. Run your game from the files that it installs on your computer.
    • Keep a backup copy of your game on your external drive.
    • Clear off anything that is a large file from your desktop and trash. These slow down the computer.
    • Go through and compress and do any efficiency cleanups you can on your computer.
    • In the game, before playing, modify your settings to simplify the size and resolution of the running game. Reduce resolution, audio and video/visual/function settings. Be merciless. Clear out some things you will never use that come with the game. Reduce somewhat the 'extras' (people and content). Don't go too crazy with this or you will mess with your community dynamics. If you have more than 100 or so things saved in your library or more than 5-10 game saves in your main menu you may want to weed some out. The game-saves and library items live in your tray folder, and if this gets huge it can weigh the game down.
    • If you're on a laptop, you can get a fan to cool it (the kind you sit it on). Give it breaks. Save frequently if the game crashes occasionally.

Hope some of this may be useful. Happy gaming!
