Main menu dimmed/greyed out and locked, ESC key not working (The Sims 4)

When I launch the game, the main menu background turns completely dimmed or greyed out, and the UI becomes completely unresponsive. I cannot click on "Resume Game", "Load Game", or any other options. The screen behaves as if a background popup notification is active, but there is nothing on the screen except the darkened overlay.

 

What I have tried so far:

- Pressing the ESC key (Does not fix the issue).

- Forcing the game to close and clearing the localthumbscache.package file.

- Clearing the cache in the EA app using "App Recovery".

 

Doing these troubleshooting steps only temporarily fixes the game for the first launch, but the exact same issue returns shortly after on subsequent launches.

 

Can anyone please help me find a permanent fix for this? Thank you!

    It's hard to tell if you are using mods/cc ?

    Do you have things added to your mods folder ?

    1. It happens occasionally, so it's hard to tell.
    2. There are no ads for me to close.

    Hi innozent28​ 

    Could you please provide the following information

    • Are you using mods/cc in your game ? Please remove them and test without them if you do.
    • Did you have any ads showing that you closed ?
