Major Game Glitch Half Way Through Play

I started a new household. Everything went smoothly until at one point i couldn’t control my sims. I tried to make the father go to sleep to fulfill his sleep need, but wouldn’t move. I tried resetting object on him but that didn’t work. I went to switch to his daughter but it lagged for a few seconds. Tried to get her to do something. Nothing. Reset Object nothing. I then went to save & quit. It was able to save the file but stayed stuck on the loading screen to exit. I had to force my computer to shut down because doing task manager also messed with the screen. 

I restarted my PC and checked for all updates that need to be done. Removed all my mods and CC. Went back into the game. Same thing.

Deleted that file and repaired the game. I was able to play a new household up until the same glitch happened. 

Has anyone else dealt with this or have any recommendations?
