Does your Sim have the Adventurous trait perhaps?
My Sims with hand made crafting based stores have the traits Cheerful, Creative and another trait from Animal Enthusiast, Good, Goofball, or Maker. The one exception, Belle has the Loves the Outdoors trait but Belle crafts outside in the garden anyway while sitting with her llamas. So from those I don't think they should be getting bored. But I have a problem with incorrect moodlets, so I wonder if it's linked to that, in my game anyway.
