New Update Has Broken My Homescreen

I tried to go onto the sims today and it made me update. I did, went into the game and then because I wanted to go into CAS I went to settings to enable mods. I downloaded the newest version of the more CAS columns mod and restarted the game, but now every time I go onto the sims the homescreen is black and literally nothing works - can't load or resume game, can't access gallery, nothing. 

I deleted the mod from my laptop and restarted multiple times, also repaired the game through the EA app. It still doesn't work, I now think the issue is probably to do with the update and not the mod

(however I have no tech knowledge so would also like to mention that I've had other mods installed in the past)
