Opened game and Sims clothes and hair are all gone

I'm afraid to open my save because the Sims in my active save are shown in the main menu without clothes or hair (mostly- one has shoes and one has a robe?), and I don't know what's going on. All my packs are correctly shown as owned (though when I first opened the game, it said I didn't own some packs that I did, and the Sims didn't even appear in the main screen. I exited and relaunched the game and this is what I saw.) I have relaunched multiple times and it is still like this. No mods or cc active.

  • Sporty_Bookworm1  Ok, since you are not using CC and have checked to see that all packs are owned, did you check to make sure that none of them are disabled?  From the household name, it looks like you merged the Harris family from Eco Lifestyle and the Specter family from Life and Death.  All the undies, robe and sandals are base game so it could be that you've got everything but base game disabled.

If you do not have any packs disabled, then I suggest you load the save and look in CAS and in live mod to see if the sims have hair and clothes.  You won't mess up anything by opening the save and looking as long as you don't save over the save.  Idk for sure, but if you have been testing that new feature, the image of the household may be false, and everything is all right.  And if everything is all right, then you can save again, and the Main Menu portrait should correct itself.  If you choose to save, then use save as and create a new save just in case.  It might take doing it more than once.

    Hope this helps.

  • If you have no cc active, all the clothing that is cc on these Sims were removed.

Were they supposed to have pack stuff ? Were they from the pack is said you didn't own ? Do those show owned now ? Did you save the game in that state ?

  • Sporty_Bookworm1 That looks like you have mods and CC disabled in Game Options.  If you haven't played since the last update, that explains why as mods and CC are almost always disabled when the update installs.  So, go to Game Options>Other and click the box to enable them.  Then restart the game.  When you get to the Main Menu, your sims will most likely look the same as they are in your pic.  Go ahead and hit Resume Game.  Once you get to the lot, check all the sims in your active household.  They should be dressed as they were the last time you played them.  You can also go to Manage Households and look at other households if you want to.  If everything looks ok, go ahead and play or do a save as and quit.  You might have save and reload the save several times before the Main Menu pic corrects itself.

If your sims continue to look like they do in your pic when you check them, then you must have saved with mods and CC disabled.  In that case, you'll have to redress every sim manually.  You'll also have to add all build/buy CC back on every lot where you used it as well.

    Hope this helps.

This save is vanilla (no cc or mods) so the clothes are all from packs or base game. So it doesn't make sense the clothes are missing.

I’ll have to try that. I haven’t even touched any of the pack disabling options which is why this was alarming to me. Thank you for your suggestion! I was worried loading into the save might potentially cause problems since I’ve been hearing about people having issues with corrupting their saves. I’ve backed everything up though so I’ll go through and try.

  • After opening the save the clothes and hair were normal, not sure what happened but the actual save was fine. Thanks for your reassurance and prompt help!
