try right-clicking on the game in Origin and hit repair game to see if that helps.

Hi Crin,

Thanks for your help. I had tried to repair a few times but it wasn't listing as an option on my origin pack.

However it did end up appearing a few days later (randomly) so I did it then, and the repair has fixed it. And my Sims that had parent points have them back to where they were previous to the 'blackout' so that's also good.
