Placing community lots from gallery doesn't retain lot type

After installing the new Eco lifestyle expansion, I created a new save and went to build out Newcrest.

I had a couple of lots in my gallery that I wanted to use, specifically some restaurants. as I was placing the lots, I recognized they were all being placed as residential lots instead of the community lot type they should have been. In the case of the restaurants this adds an additional layer of frustration because that means that it resets the menu in the costume options that would have been present.

I then went and edited the lot type, And it was able to save the lot type at that point. I then went back to the gallery and placed the lot again, and the lot type was retained. In other words, replacing lots from the gallery seems to take whatever default lot type tag is on the zone before placing it rather than adding whatever tags it should have attached to it.

Am I the only one with this problem? Is it a bad installation, or something else?

  • When you place a lot in edit world there is now an option to keep it as the existing lot type in your world (i.e. residential), or to keep the lot type that the lot is (i.e. restaurant). You have to choose this option, if you just click yes it will keep it the same as it is in your world.

This isn't a bug but a change that came with a patch.

Ahhhh, @Coley666 , I must not have placed anything form  the Gallery > My Library since this change, but yes, I see it also.

@litote When you go to place the lot you should now see a pop-up like the one below. Perhaps you have not noticed this either and just clicked the arrow to okay the placement. Unfortunately, though, if you do that the new lot will take on the Venue Type/Lot Type that the lot already had.

Example... In this case the current lot type is 'Residential', and unless I select 'Restaurant' for the lot type when I place it, it will take on the 'Residential' Lot/Venue type.

Thanks for pointing that out, Coley666 🙌

  • Thank you both! I was really dreading having to redo all the menus and costuming. I actually had taken a break, because I was so sad I couldn't use my pizzeria. :-(

I am very happy to have this game back lol
