Platform: why not recognized for a part of the room. And so on. (Build/Buy Mode)

In this bug report, @SheriGR asked me about the creation of the platform, so I move here for answer, because I think that it is different from the direct content of that bug report.
This started with a post about not being able to place patterns on the ceiling (currently a bug report is already created).
I hope that this thread will be a place to exchange opinions about issues in build using Platform.

I wonder if the game is seeing the platform as it's own separate room when uploaded within another room... but I am not sure what triggers this in the cases of the rooms you mention. In the case of the rooms where your platforms are deleted, do they butt up against a wall, or did they originally butt up against a wall when the room was made? There are a number of issues that doing this seems to cause. Also, was the room made via a workaround to get the wall to stay next to the platform? (I've experimented in the past with issues with platforms against walls that users experienced. If memory serves, you can get the wall to stay if you draw the wall then physically move it over to place it next to the platform... but when doing this you don't have a 'sealed'/official room.)

But, even now, I still can't image of the situation you described correctly.
So, I will show you how I make a room with a stepped floor by using images.
Those are images from when I renovated the house in Crick Cabana.

If you change the height of the floor while keeping the shape in the red frame, the edges of the Platform Trims will protrude and become an obstacle. (This is also one of the issues with the platform.) And since it is not fine in appearance, this part is cut off. Then build a wall and pull it.

Build a wall on the protruding part and raise the height of the floor of the protruding part.
After raising the floor to the desired height, remove the wall.

I do it this way most of the time.
I had never made a stepped floor using the Platform tool.
However, I think you can create a ceiling even if you use this tool to create a space with a stepped floor.

I wonder why can't make ceiling?

Do you have the answer to what you asked me in this?

Addition:
This bug report presents an issue where the roof is missing when building a platform.

The ceiling in your image attached there can be made in the same way. For that room with only the Platform in the middle, use the Top Down View and click where the Platform is, and you'll see the Build Ceiling yellow frame. But this is definitely a hassle.

It is wonderful that you are able to create such a wonderful home even though there are many functions that cannot be used. I knew there were many inconveniences in playing on a console, but after talking with you here, I realized that it was more inconvenient than I thought. I sincerely hope that one day soon playing Sims 4 on console will be as comfortable as playing Sims 4 on PC.
Lastly.
Thank you both for a very enjoyable and meaningful time.

@Pick-a-boo_doo This platform example you shared appears to touch a wall, as I mentioned in my comment you quoted. I'm sorry if my description was not clear. I will attempt to clarify...
I just tested and I apologize... was remembering the wrong combination of circumstances for the platform in some aspects. You can draw a wall next to the platform (you do not have to move one there.) Sorry for any confusion my statement caused.
This is what I found when testing...

1. If I make a platform that does not touch the wall, the game seems to consider ti to be part of the room and it saves the room with the platform intact:

2. However, if the platform is adjacent with the room's wall, it deletes the wall it touches:

3. If I use the wall tool to draw a new wall where it was deleted:

4. Then I try to save the room, it does not save the platform with the room:
Is that the problem you're experiencing, or am I misunderstanding? Thank you for your patience in helping me understand the issue.

It's such a complex thing. I didn't even realise how complex it was until I started testing it all myself.
I've got some rooms that are considered as one whole room if they are one platform (raised or sunken) with another platform around it. But then when I tested Snowy Escape original pack builds there were rooms almost entirely made up of platforms of all differing heights and shapes and they all counted as different rooms.
The sad thing is, though we've raised this I'm not sure they'll be able to fix it. I'm sure they'll try but technically it's going to be difficult. I keep thinking of that reassuring sound you get when you wrap fencing around the top of the stairs, you know that loud clunk noise that tells you you've made a solid room from different things, the stairs, floor, wall and fence. That's what I want for my platforms, to encase it in one solid outer wall. But I don't know if it's possible.
I think we'll get the reply that it's By Design, because of the nature of platforms. But it was definitely worth us asking.
The ceiling issue that we've raised though, I'm sure that one can be addressed. But the room issue...I just don't know 🤞.

Let me start by saying that you don't need to apologize. My inability to understand the situation is just an unfortunate result of my poor understanding of English and my poor imagination. It's not that your statement caused confusion. So please don't say sorry.
Pictures attached to the description help to understand the situation, especially when it comes to architecture, which is very helpful for a non-English speaker like me.

There seemed to be something in the attached image that answers your question. It was good.

I also had a problem when uploading a room with Platform to the gallery, so I posted an image to the bug report after that.

I'd like to ask you.
Can't you always make ceilings on the platform part of the house you built? How did you make that part of the Platform where you can't build a ceiling?
Is it the same way as the image in your reply?
It's not a question of trouble, just curiosity, so there's no problem even if it takes a long time to reply.
Please let me know when you have free time.

Thank you for your opinion.
I have seen both of your bug reports regarding the room with Platform.

As you mentioned, the current design recognizes the Platform as a separate entity. Perhaps the height of the floor is a discriminating material.

what does that mean?
Does it mean that the wall of the platform part and the wall of the other part are recognized as a continuous wall?
If so, I hope so too. However, as I mentioned earlier, if the standard is the height of the floor, the height of the wall will be judged based on the height from the floor, so I think it is impossible at present.
Ah, yes, it may be easier to understand the expression "thickness of the floor" rather than "height of the floor". Imagine replacing the words.

As I wrote in my reply to @SheriGR, how did you create the Platform part that doesn't have a ceiling?
One of the images in my first post shows the Platform alone.
As you can see, Platform has walls. It's just not displayed. It is displayed in the same way as when the walls of the room created with the Room tool are deleted.
And if you click on the top, a yellow frame will also appear to create or destroy the ceiling.
Can't you still build a ceiling?

I know the phenomenon that the ceiling disappears including the original room when part of the room is changed to Platform during construction or when Patform is added later. I'm aware that this is the content of another your bug reports about the ceiling, but is it wrong?
Either way, it's going to be a major design change, so I'm assuming it will take a long time to fix, if at all.

@Pick-a-boo_doo You ask some very good questions, and make some excellent points!
In the case of the ceiling disappearing over the platform, in my examples above the roof did not disappear - neither when the platform was not touching a wall nor when the platform did touch a wall. However, when I added the platform in the middle of the room the other day (for that other bug report test), the ceiling did disappear! So... I'm glad you asked about this.
I just went in and tested further in that room I mentioned testing on for the bug report. I found that if I made the platform in middle of the room, the ceiling did not disappear. However, if I made the platform outside the room (in this case on the ground), then used the move tool to place the platform inside the room, then the ceiling did disappear.
Edit: I tested further on the disappearing ceiling and found that the method of producing the disappearing ceiling mentioned above did not work when I moved the platform from the yard to inside a room in the main house on the lot - which has a raised foundation. It only happened when It moved the platform from the yard with the move tool to a different building on the lot that has one level only and does not have a raised foundation. So... if that detail is of any help, there it is.

And yes, using the 'build ceiling' method does work with the missing platform ceiling (this is my favorite way to do it). However, I wanted to note that highlighting the platform then looking top-down didn't bring up the yellow 'build ceiling' border for me... however it did work via the way I normally do... highlight the platform (by selecting it) then go up a level (with the platform still highlighted) to get the yellow 'build ceiling' rim option.

@SheriGR I'm glad you mentioned the "build ceiling" command. I've tried this on my Xbox Series X but the option to build a ceiling doesn't happen at all. I'd mentioned it in my bug report but then spent a few days wondering if I was doing it right...and I did, phew. So my bug report was correct and that command has vanished on my console.

@Pick-a-boo_doo I created the platform that was missing it's ceiling by placing the Square Platform section at the edge of the room, I then resized it to make a wall shelf/ledge. It automatically deleted the wall that was there, like it always does for me and so I replaced the wall around it.

Yes, I confirmed this case too.
The ceiling breaks once it's on the ground, presumably because the program thinks the floor doesn't have a ceiling when you put the Platform on the ground, I think. And since the floor without ceiling (= Platform) is installed in the room, the ceiling is not displayed only in the Platform part.
As far as program behavior is concerned, I think this is normal.
However, both @simsplayer818 and you say that the "Build Ceiling" command does not appear.
This is clearly a bug.
I think @simsplayer818 and @SheriGR have slightly different content.
@simsplayer818 , who is playing on console, seems to have been unable to display commands since before the new update. A new feature that puts a pattern on the ceiling highlights this bug.
But @SheriGR - I believe you're playing on PC - seems to display commands sometimes and sometimes not.
Of course, it's about the Platform part.
I still don't quite understand what the difference is.
Tried the method mentioned by @simsplayer818 .
See the image below.
I placed Platform directly into the room without creating walls or ceilings. Then I changed the size. Images are attached in order from the top to the things operated in this procedure.

The wall has been removed at the position where the Platform was installed. But even if the Platform size is changed, only the Platform portion remains without walls.
And the ceiling is not broken in the original room nor the platform part. Of course, the “Build (or Remove) Ceiling” command is also displayed.
@simsplayer818, when you see what you've made, does it look different than this?
I know the command about ceiling isn't shown. As for the rest.
The reason I ask is because I thought the disappearing walls might have something to do with the ceiling commands not being displayed.
I think you should report everything you find out. The more material, the less time it takes to fix.
That's why team collect bug reports.
But most people just write that they are the same.
A new function has been added, and it's now possible to see a beautiful ceiling, but it's a waste if you can't take advantage of that function.

@Pick-a-boo_doo With what you mentioned in mind, I did another test, and I edited in this result to my test in the comment above, and will add it here also (plus I will add it to that other bug report): Tagging @simsplayer818 here also, for awareness of the edit(s)...
I just went in and tested further in that room I mentioned testing on for the bug report. I found that if I made the platform in middle of the room, the ceiling did not disappear. However, if I made the platform outside the room (in this case on the ground), then used the move tool to place the platform inside the room, then the ceiling did disappear.
NEW EDIT: I tested further on the disappearing ceiling and found that the method of producing the disappearing ceiling mentioned above did not work when I moved the platform from the yard to inside a room in the main house on the lot - which has a raised foundation. @Pick-a-boo_doo & @SheriGR I've had a test on a few different styles of build, one flat with no platforms, one flat with platforms (used in my bug report) and one on a raised deck with a platform and I'm not getting the ceiling command pop up at all. It's not just over platforms, it's a missing command. But the workaround in the images on my bug report does work and that is to go to the floor above and surround the gap in the ceiling with a fence to fill it in with concrete.
I'm going to raise the missing ceiling command on the console feedback thread too and see if other players are affected. We've lost some functions in BB mode on console so it's possible this is linked to our ongoing problems.
