@marsteras Historically in the game, in my experience, as what I assume @PugLove888 confirmed seeing before, the speed and conditions of promotion in careers can be rather less predictable than I anticipate. I have had careers where I thought they didn't have enough accomplished (progress-wise for the 'work on to promote' skill) and they have gotten promoted more quickly than I anticipated, and there are times when it took FOREVER to get the promotion (especially the last/top rung one in some careers) where I have gotten way past the point of giving up on them ever getting promoted, then suddenly it randomly happens. There are also many factors that come into account aside from accomplishing the 'suggested skill/goal' for promotion... your sim's 'attitude', emotions, physical condition, etc. all come into account. (Though I have had some promotions happen on a day that the sim was really stressed or otherwise uncomfortable or out of sorts... So, to me it seems that you can prep in the ways recommended for promotion, but sometimes it seems there is a randomness at play in the process, as with many parts of this game. Good luck with the promotion!
That sounds odd to me @SheriGR. For me it's always been like, meet the conditions and get work to excellent with the little checkmark and get promoted, rinse repeat. It's a grind I've done a million times and I've never before seen any variation in when it happens.
Like I said, I don't mind if there's a chance that you'll get promoted early (or late, as it were) but I haven't seen any mention of this change, and all older topics I can find are about meeting all the requirements to get promoted or cheating to bypass them.

@marsteras, yes, it is a little bit odd, enough so for it to possibly be a bug, but I think it is more by design. There could be some factor that we aren't looking at. Like @SheriGR, I was thinking along the lines of skills or mood when going to work (let's say you need logic and charisma for the next promotion -- you might need one more charisma skill, but you are up on logic by 3 levels -- perhaps this makes up for the slightly under charisma skill. 🤔 Or maybe you need one creative skill point to get that promotion and the ideal mood is Inspired -- but you come into work Very Inspired . That could be what tips the scales in your favor! It would be like in real life if your boss likes you and gives you a little leeway if they see you are working hard! 😇:eahigh_file:
But there is another thing that might affect this … it could be your Sims' traits. I never thought to look, but It might be that if you Sim has the Ambitious trait, then they might be more likely to get a promotion! 😉 Out of curiosity, what are your Sim's traits? 🤔

His aspirations are snob, materialistic and outgoing.
He was brand new and made just to be a stylist, so at each level I was just struggling for the relevant points. At no point did he have extra points in anything.
There was no ideal mood and I basically worked from home every day, always making sure to do the daily task.
I hope that info suffices 🙂

Yes, thank you @marsteras. I was just curious! 😇 I think it happened to one of my Ambitious Sims once, but I don't know if the other Sims of mine that it happened to were ambitious or not, so I was trying to see if that affected it or not. 🤓
It could be just random and intentional, or it could be a bug. But since it doesn't happen too often I don't think it is a bug (or at least wasn't before the most recent update! 🤨 ) Either way, I don't mind since it is something good, as long as it doesn't happen too often! 😉😃
