put items in household inventory
How do I move items from personal inventory to household inventory? I don't want to lose all my painting masterpieces when my Sims die.

Take these paintings from personal inventory and hang them on the wall.
Enter the build/ buy mode and place the paintings from the wall in the family inventory. You can also save to the library a single wall with paintings and upload it to the Gallery as a room, then you will never lose it and you can use it in the next game.
