Quiet lot trait doesn't work as advertised

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.46.18.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All except Patio, Fitness, Toddler, Laundry, MFP
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Live in the CL apartment with the Quiet lot trait, and also play another household that lives in an apartment that neighbors it
What happens when the bug occurs? The Quiet lot trait is not as it is intended; if you live in an appt that has the trait, your neighbors won't make noise but any loud noise you make, THEY can hear. If you live in an appt that neighbors one with the trait instead, you will continue to hear noises from their "Quiet" appt. I am unsure if they can still hear loud noises from you.
What do you expect to see? The Quiet lot trait actually meaning 'quiet' for everyone around that appt
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

I've had very personal experiences with this when I was playing in that appt and in the appts that neighbor it ever since I got City Living half a year ago; I honestly think it came with the pack and I'm not even sure if it's even by design or a bug.

  • I'm pretty sure the lot trait works as it is meant to - it only reduces the likeliness of your neighbours making noise.

It does nothing for your own sims inside your own apartment disturbing neighbours.

The trait description is kinda non-specific, but I've never expected it to suppress my own sims making noise. I always viewed it as the opposite of the Lively trait where the neighbours are always having parties.

That's another good question about the opposing CL lot trait; in the appt in the Fashion District, you have three appts, two have the trait while the last does not. If I live in the appt that does not have the trait, then that means I will not have to hear half as much noise coming from the other two appts?

Also, regardless if by design or not, the Quiet lot trait is poorly worded then. If the appt with the lot trait is meant to be Quiet, than that also means that not only can you not hear noises from your neighbors, but they won't be able to hear any noises from your own as well, because it's Quiet.

I'm moving this to game info as feedback on the wording.

    I believe simvasion is right.

Even if it were true, I still need some official clarification on the lot trait.

Quiet - Reduces the likelihood that Sims in neighboring apartments will annoy your Sim and their family.

This is what found in Carl's guide (yes, know that's not official)

If you make noise, you're not being quiet. In your report you say, the neighbors make less (no noise) so you don't get annoyed as often. So it's not about not being annoyed by the noise but rather not any being there.

Look at this this way: If you are on a train that has a quiet zone. People are supposed to be quiet in there. If someone isn't, this doesn't mean that others won't get annoyed by it but rather that you did something you shouldn't have.
