Re: Blue square in activity slot/action bar (continued issue)

@youallaremysons I know you've tested Mods/CC, but as a hail Mary attempt, can you please try all of the following in order, even if you did them before, in this order:

  1. Close your game.
  2. Move your Mods folder from your "The Sims 4" folder [Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4] to your desktop (save it for reference) and delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder.
  3. Run a game repair and let it complete before re-entering the game...
  4. Then check in a new game save to see if this issue is still occurring. You can test without saving.

@SheriGR  Hi!!! Thanks so much for responding. I tried what you told me and the issue of the action bar overloading was fixed, but the other issues remained. The blue square still appears, the traits are not showing up in CAS, and I get stuck in Build Mode. I also noticed earlier before your response, that the original screen that Sims 4 opens up on (that displays challenges and other games along with options for a new game or to load a game) says that the screen is outdated and I need to go through an update. EA says the game is up-to-date. Again, I'm lost. Let me know what you think so far, I really am grateful.

@youallaremysons I'm glad to hear that got rid of some of the issues. Did you leave the Mod folder content out of the game and some of the issues remained, even after the game repair? What is the version number of your game, and are you on PC or Mac?

@SheriGR Yes, I left the Mod folder out and the issues remained after game repair. The version number is 1.1. I guess that's because I bought the base game in 2014. And I'm on PC.

Can you please take a screenshot of your main menu (lower left corner)... of the version number? Thanks!

For instance, I'm on Mac, so my version number will look different than yours, but is shows this:

@SheriGR Sorry, I checked through a different way. Here's the version number and the way the screen looks.

@youallaremysons  Good. So... I have chatted with some friends and since your game is showing the old menu on the Main Menu screen, we're still thinking it may be something connected to those stubborn Mods/CC. Can you please try the following:

    1. Close the game. Go to your "The Sims 4" folder [Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4] and rename the folder to:
      The Sims 4_OLD
(You can leave it in the e Electronic Arts folder for now. We will need it for reference later.)
    2. Next, before opening your game, run a game repair. While it repairs it will recreate a fresh TheSims folder for you. Just let the repair run until it has fully completed. Do not add any of your old content into the new game folder.
    3. Then open the game and see if the issue is gone.

Please let us know the results and we can go from there.

@SheriGRI did the first and second step, but a new The Sims 4 folder wasn't created. Sorry for all this trouble...😞 I can move the old folder to Desktop and see if it'll make a new folder instead...?

@youallaremysons Sure, move it to your desktop. Just don't delete it as we will want it for reference and possible use. It's no trouble. When you open the game the new folder will be created.
Also... I just tried it in my game and be forewarned it seems to go full screen automatically, then a few settings popups, and then I think I had a popup for every single pack that I was forced to exit from, so there will be that gauntlet. Anyway, afterward see if your main menu/load screen looks like this:

@SheriGR Yeah, so...the issues are still there. Could it be something wrong with the other Sims 4 folder, instead? The one with the world files?

@youallaremysons I added a little info to my last reply. Can you please confirm if you did the things I added, and if your Main Menu/load page does not look like that, can you send a screenshot of what it does look like now (with after you had moved the old The Sims 4 folder to your desktop from Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, and then opened the game to have it create a brand new folder there)? I'm not sure from your wording what you mean about the folder 'with the world files'? There is a game install in your computer that is in a different location that will have the actual game install itself. If we need to, re-installing the game can be our next thing to try. However, please answer the questions I just put here and we can see what point we're at then. Make sure you keep the old 'The Sims 4' folder safe on your desktop this whole time, though.

@SheriGR I could be wrong in my description of it, but there are two Sims 4 folders on my computer: one that's directly under documents and the one you asked me to move to the desktop. Also, I did the things you added in the last reply. This is what my screen looks like after the steps I took (basically, it's the same):

@youallaremysons Okay... Leave that original The Sims 4 folder on your desktop. Close your game. Then go to your EA App library, click the three dots and choose uninstall. Once the game has finished uninstalling, please reinstall the game. Then open the game and share a screenshot of what you get for your Loading Screen/Main Menu.

@youallaremysons Yes, your purchased packs are all attached to your EA account that you're logged into, so when you reinstall the game and you are logged into your account the packs will also reinstall.

@SheriGR Sorry for the delay in response! I don't want you to think that I'm not interacting anymore. I thought the game would be re-installed by now, but it's going extremely slow (probably because I have a lot of content). It may take another day or so. I'll message again tomorrow with an update.

@youallaremysons Thanks for checking in. I'm wondering why it would take a really long time... is your internet really, really slow? That's just to reinstall the EA content, not non-EA content (Mods, CC, etc.), right? I was just wondering when you said you have a lot of content.

@SheriGR Yeah, I'm talking about EA paid content. The base game has already reinstalled, but I've bought a lot of packs over the years. I basically have everything besides a few kits and a couple of stuff packs. And I already moved all the mods to desktop, so they shouldn't be reinstalling. About the internet, it's off at my home and I've been doing this at work. So, basically I haven't been able to just sit and let it download + the internet sucks lol.

@SheriGR THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!! So, I opened the newly installed version and it updated correctly. All the issues were gone! You (well, mostly you and then, your friends) are my savior!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to figure this out with me. I seriously appreciate it. A picture of my screen is attached.
