Re: Game specific Identity

I want to delete a game specific identity from my EA account. I know that it's possible to edit EA ID but it doesn't change game specific identities.

I’ve already contacted EA support about this about two years ago and answer was no, a game specific identity can’t be deleted or edited even by EA staff. But I still desperately want to remove it since my gender identity has changed since the creation of that game specific identity. I associate that old name strongly to my old gender identity and it's very hurtful to see in my account information. And on top of that my EA friends can see it too nowadays after the Origin to EA app update.

The game specific identity I want to delete is under ”The Sims” which means The Sims 3 and not The Sims 4 (I have both games) according to this source: https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion-Feedback/Game-Specific-Identity-Change/td-p/6962702

So if I get The Sims 3 game removed entirely from my EA account which seems to be possible via EA support will my game specific identity be removed too? I understand that removing the game from my account will be permanent. I just want to get rid off the game specific identity so badly.

I would simply just delete my old EA account and make a new one if I hadn't spent over a thousand dollars on Apex Legends.

    My message was moved to this "solved" thread but it's not answering to my main question: If I get The Sims 3 game removed entirely from my EA account which seems to be possible via EA support will my game specific identity be removed too? I understand that removing the game from my account will be permanent.

    I'm talking about removing the whole game from my account and not just uninstalling it. I have to clarify this since EA support didn't understand this when I contacted them via email about this.

    @blue001001  If I knew the answer, I'd have responded when you first posted.  But I did want to say that I flagged your earlier post to someone from EA to look into, and I understand why it matters to you.  Hopefully the answer is yes; it's just that you might need to wait another day or two for a response.

    Hi @blue001001,

    As this game specific identity is tied with TheSims3.com and not your Sims 3 game, removing The Sims 3 would not remove this game identity from your account. Currently, there is no way to remove or change this ID from your account- however this ID is not viewable by anyone else in your EA app profile, and is only visible on TheSims3.com.

    Thank you for the answer. So to be sure: There is no way to delete TheSims3.com account at all? Even by EA staff?

    @blue001001

    That's correct- currently there is no way to remove this specific game identity from your account, it's not something the live support team is able to remove from your account either.

    I want to add that even though in the reply regarding TheSims3.com account we're told that "this ID is not viewable by anyone else in your EA app profile, and is only visible on TheSims3.com" it IS visible on EA App so that statement is false.
    After the change from Origin to EA app the game specific identities are viewable by others on the EA app. The game specific identitites are right under your username. They can be seen by searching for friends with the Discover new friends feature. They're also visible on profiles.

    Here are screenshots to offer examples. I've edited the names to protect their privacy. "Edited" is the username and "EditedIdentity" is the game specific identity.

    @blue001001

    That "EditedIdentity" is your nickname in the EA app, not your Game Specific ID for The Sims 3.

    You can change your nickname in the EA app by clicking your avatar at the top right, click on My Profile, then Edit Profile

  • Did you ever get this resolved? I've argued with EA support over this same exact issue for the same game many times and they keep telling me it isn't possible.
