- crinrict2 years agoHero+@Aimstar87 I merged your post with another question like this (although that was EA/Epic). I doubt you can mix Steam and Epic but I don't know.
Forwarded this to the Community Managers to get a proper answer. hello, can you acces the sims with the dlc from the ea app?? I use the ea app so i have no idea.
- crinrict2 years agoHero+@TomElUnico You mean from Epic ? I'm also not 100% sure about that but see my answer above (Post #2)
i mean, if you buy a dlc for sims on steam or epic, does it appear in your ea app like a regular game would? for example if you buy fifa on steam you can open it throw the app, and it says acces via steam

Hey all, here are a few more details on how this works:
Please note: Cross platform DLC compatibility isn't officially supported at this time, so your mileage may vary.
Epic and EA app:
- As long as your EA account and Epic account are linked together, you should have access your DLC owned from both Epic and the EA app.
Steam and Epic:
- If you are playing through Steam, you will not be able to access DLC owned through Epic.
- If you play through Epic, you will not be able to access DLC owned through Steam.
Steam and the EA app:
- If you purchase DLC through Steam, you will not be able to transfer your DLC to the EA app- you will need to use the base game version in Steam.
- If your DLC is owned through the EA app, you should have access your DLC through Steam- you will need to own the base game through Steam and be sure your accounts are linked together.
So I have some free DLC's for sims 4 through my EPIC games account and I was wondering if theres a way to get them onto my sims game which I already have bought and downloaded through origin/ea? Would I have to undownload the game through EA and then download it from epic in order to get those DLC's into the game?

@Shareeqa_h I merged your post with the main thread on this. Please see answer above.
@TomElUnico Just making sure you see the answer from @EA_Solaire

Yikes, Even with clarification of what is right and/or wrong, my mind is totally boggled.
That is some hot EA spaghetti mess.
I long for the carefree, relaxed and simpler halcyon days of the sims
So if my Epic account is linked with my Xbox One Console will I be able to play the free packs through my Xbox Console as well?
- crinrict2 years agoHero+@BreeMiles Does Epic offer console versions of Games ? You can't mix Console with PC.
@Jangoett Did you read post #8 and Post #14 ? If so, could you explain what's still unclear ? Not sure how it works Crin, I will have to check it out more once the packs are released but most of my games link to my Xbox Console from my Epic game and I wasn't sure if this was the case as well with The Sims, will let you know more later
- crinrict2 years agoHero+Maybe @EA_Solaire knows more about that.

Excuse me, I bought The Sims 4 with steam, both EA and Steam have bought or exchanged DLC,Then I can still use EPIC GAMES to get 3 free DLCs?
When I follow #8 instructions it asks me to install Origin (I don't have it anymore, I use the EA App now).
When I install Origin and open the game from Epic, it opens Origin and asks me to update to the EA App (which I already have installed and updated). Nowhere in the process does it tell me to link the accounts. If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong and can help me, it would be a great help. Thanks.- crinrict2 years agoHero+@HadesSimmer Origin is def not supported anymore for PC so it's strange that you were prompted to install it. I personally don't use Epic and don't plan to either so I can't really help you with the linking process. At which point are you asked to install Origin ? Do you have a screenshot ?
@mmartinsdemoura I don't think it works with Macs. Steam also doesn't offer the mac version but I'm not 100% certain. - crinrict2 years agoHero+@BreeMiles I checked the Epic store and only Windows is listed so I really doubt this will be working.

So I'm guessing that you have to always have your epic games account linked with EA to use these free packs in future. Like you can't just use the EA App where I have bought all my dlc from (when on sale). I assume that if my epic account isn't linked the content is not available
- Ehkay2 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Nakatomi_Uk Yeah, they have to be connected, but ea app sims4 bg & dlc dont have to be installed thru epic
A couple of weeks ago, I added sims4 to my epic account and now when i launch sims4 from ea app, it opens up the epic store, even tho s4 & dlc is not installed thru epic.
We all know how lame epic is to startup and I guess we just gotta deal with it.
With the latest freebies, claim them then launch game thru epic and ea app, then close them both down. Restart ea app and the new dlc "should" be listed in manage addons, so it can be played thru ea app
hey can i transfer my my sims character from my steam to my epic game? (sorry for my bad english)
FWIW my milage totally varied. I thought it wouldn't work for me since I usually play thru Steam. But I thought there was a chance that I might be able to play just the free basegame and free packs thru Epic/EA so I decoupled my Steam acct from EA since I wasn't able to launch the game thru Epic with the Steam acct coupled. But (possibly due to issues with the new EA launcher) I wasn't able to launch the Epic download thru EA either (I got that "error on our end" message everyone's been getting.) Then I recoupled Steam to EA and couldn't launch the game thru Steam either, briefly panicked, then fully shut down both EA and Steam, relaunched, and loaded in perfectly. AND THE FREE DLC FROM EPIC SHOWED UP!!! 🥳🙌 So I was able to stream some Jungle Adventures AND have access to the DLC I'd purchased thru Steam.
@noob_gembel12 If you mean can you transfer your saves, technically the answer is yes: Sims 4 saves will work with any type of install, and they'll even transfer from Windows to macOS or vice versa. However, you can't transfer the DLC you've bought in Steam to Epic. Anything you've bought through Steam will need to be installed through Steam. So if you own expansions there, and you install through Epic, you won't have access to those expansions, and then your saves might not work properly or might not even open.
@fxxkgravity7 I've merged your post with the master thread for these questions. No, you can't transfer your Steam-owned content to the EA App. Anything you've bought through Steam will only work with a Steam-installed base game.
Additionally, you can't directly buy your Steam-owned packs again in the EA App. You could unlink your Steam and EA accounts, then clear the App's cache and buy the packs again; or you could buy the packs from an authorized third-party seller and register the packs within the EA App. Neither is guaranteed to work though: the EA App sometimes still blocks people from rebuying their content, and a third-party code might not ovverride the Steam content.
However, it looks from other players' posts (including the one immediately below yours) that you can in fact get your Epic-owned packs to show up in the EA App. You may need to uninstall the Steam version, install from Epic, and launch the game once from Epic before the Epic-owned packs will show up in the EA App. But once that happens, you can uninstall the Epic version, install the Steam version again, and download the Epic-owned packs through the EA App. I think. I haven't tested this myself; I'm only going from other reports.
- crinrict2 years agoHero+@AlenaFenomena That is good to know. Thanks for the info.
