Re: How to redeem EA gift card for SIMS4 on xbox

@Rigina_Phelange  EA gift cards can only be used to make purchases directly from EA, which in practice means purchases for PC/Mac.  XBox purchases need to go through the XBox store.  And since Sims 4 packs can't be transferred between platforms, there's unfortunately no way to use this gift card to obtain DLC for XBox.

I don't think you'll be able to get a refund for the gift card either since you've already redeemed it.  So this is unfortunately money you won't be able to use, at least not until your daughter wants to play an EA game on PC or Mac.

Well, that's just theft as far as I can see.  A relative bought the gift card in good faith, assuming she could use it, I redeemed it assuming I could use it.  Nowhere did either of us read that you can only redeem EA gift cards if the game is on a PC.

@Rigina_Phelange  You can only redeem EA gift cards when purchasing from EA, which is how most gift cards work.

Unfortunately EA is both a publisher and a store, which causes the confusion - I’m afraid asking Microsoft (which runs the Xbox store) to accept an EA gift card (issued by and for the EA store), is like expecting Amazon to take a Barnes & Noble gift card just because you’re buying a book that’s part of the Barnes & Noble Classics series.

  • I'm absolutely fuming that EA get to just keep £15 of my money.  Utterly disgusted by it.  I cannot see it as anything else other than theft.  My sister bought the gift card assuming my daughter could use it for an EA game, which SIMS4 is.  I don't even want the money back, I want my daughter to be able to use the money towards buying a pack.  If EA gave us a pack then knocked off the £15 from our account, that would be fine.
