Re: I am NOT happy with EA, and their STUPID automatic updates to the Sims 4.

@DallasNeedsAD

Maybe you should turn off automatic updates in Origin > Application Settings > Application > Client Update so you choose whether to update your game or not.

    That doesn't work. It still FORCES me to install the update or won't let me play the game. NOW it's deleted an entire BASE GAME TOWN.

    @yuk75 I suspect that the OP exits entirely out of the game when they aren't playing. In that case, you have to restart Origin to start the game. And then you can't start the game without updating it. There's no option to say "I don't want to update at this time." Going offline only works if you keep your game ready to play rather than exiting it.

    This is not a problem for me because I tend to update each time. But I can see how it might be annoying to those who don't like the updates since the updates often change things that people don't want changed.

    @KatAnubis In your Origin Application Settings there is an option to disable automatic game updates. I use lots of mods and CC so I do not want a new patch to install in my game until I am ready for it, i.e. after I've had a chance to make any necessary updates to my mods and CC. I have not yet installed the December 7 game patch but I am able to play the game just fine with keeping Origin off-line for now.

    If I go to My Game Library and click on the Sims 4 game tile, I do have the option to play Sims 4 with Origin off-line even though I have not yet installed the game patch.

    I'm just a regular Sims player, I do not work for EA.

    @DallasNeedsAD  I've had something like that happen in my game-- after installing a game patch all of my base game worlds disappeared. I was able to fix this by repairing my game through Origin. Are you playing on a PC or Mac? If you are on a PC have you tried repairing your game?

    While in logged in on Origin

    - Select My Game Library

    - Right click on the Sims 4 game tile

    - Select Repair from the pop-up menu

    This will have Origin run a scan on all of your game files and replace anything that is corrupted or missing. Wait until the scan is completed for your base game and all of your expansion packs. It should not affect any of your user files, like your Saves, Tray, and Mods folders, but I always back mine up before running the Repair, just in case.

    Good luck I hope this helps :D
